Summary: Good for sealing mattress to be protected during move and to make it more compact. Straps are not very strong and may need to purchase separate straps to keep it rolled up. Use caution, the bag gets easily punctured if you're not careful. We used this product to seal up our queen sized mattress for a move across the country. By sealing the mattress, we were able to avoid bug or mold while it was being stored/transported in a Uhaul U-Box for over 2 weeks. But the best part was that we were able to compact down our mattress and then even roll it to ensure that it used up the least amount of space. We did use a strap to keep it rolled up during storage/transport. Unfortunately, we did accidentally make a hole in the first try, so we ended up using two vacuum bags (I bought two just in case), but I think that was better so that the bag didn't get punctured while moving it and also so that it was able to stay even more compact. The straps that comes with the mattress was not quite strong enough to keep the mattress rolled up, so we purchased a different item for keeping shape. Worked pretty good but the sound coming out of my shop vac was not fun for that 10-15 mins it took to suck the air out. I got a Twin/TwinXL size bag to flatted a tri fold, 6” memory foam mattress used for guests. I would say that by the time it shrunk then rolled up, it saved me about 2/3 of the space it took up before. Still a decent size but definitely easier to store. So far it has not leaked and the straps are helping keep it condensed. Read more
This worked perfectly for packing up my old all foam mattress. Hooked it up to my shop vac and walked around on top of it until the mattress was flat and then rolled it up and use the straps to keep it secured in a role. Read more
I had a big move from Florida to NY and needed to fit mattresses ( and many other things) in a mini van. I thought these would help minimize space. They did work as expected to shrink the mattresses. However, half way through the trip one of them got a leak and the mattress puffed up to normal size. Thankfully we had the room for the expansion but it did not last more than 2 days. The second bag worked perfectly. Not sure if it was user error or something else. I do recommend making sure the zip lock top is secure by checking frequently after sucking out the air. upgraded our mattress and needed to give my old one to my parents so this was super helpful in transporting a huge mattress. i was skeptical on whether it would work well but it really did flatten our mattress so much. i will say it does get a bit hard to roll it but we managed and was able to keep it to the side until we were ready to transport it which helped save soooo much space in our little space. no signs of leakage and has held up well. really great for moving mattress if you’re considering this! It works. I needed to store a mattress that isnt being used and originally came in a box, and while I could not get it as thin as it originally came, it is definitely able to be stored and moved easier than an unfolded mattress. The bag feels thick and durable, and as long as it isnt drug on the ground it should be reusable. It also seems like it would add protection for the mattress, since it should keep air and moisture out. However...the included straps are absolutely terrible. Mine came with 4, one of which started fraying like crazy when I went to use it. The others would tighten down but not stay tight, moving the mattress at all caused the straps to loosen, furthering the issue. I ended up having to tighten it down then tying the ends to one another to prevent them from unraveling. Other reviews mentioned getting a few ratchet straps, I opted not to but having finally used this, I would say get a few ratchet straps and ditch the ones that come with this product. This can but used by one person, but I would highly recommend 2 people when it comes time to roll the mattress and tie the straps on. Read more
