Husband and I live in Hawaii, where we are constantly in the sun (and trying to avoid its ray) for walking, swimming in ocean, laps in community pool, hiking, watching grandkidsʻ sports. The sun is very bright here, and people with vulnerabilities (fair skin, pre-cancer lesions, prior sun damage, etc) have to be careful just walking from a parked car to the market. My bathroom drawers are filled with several (expensive) brands of nonscented eco-friendly 45-100 SPF creams and waxes. Even have childʻs versions of same products. To be truthful I accidentally ordered twice, so ended up with four small jars of this product. Solution: left one each in our Canoe club lockers; and one each in our swim bag because we swim 2,000m three times a week. My husband had previously developed an allergic reaction of sunscreen, and it has been difficult for him. After using this product we both concluded it is most definitely a cut above the other brands. I wear long sleeved tight rash guard and full length rashguard tights, but the backs on my hands were getting unattractively dark. So today I applied some Sun Bum on the backs of my hands after putting on my face, neck and upper chest. Our olympic sized community pool is quite chlorinated, and I can usually feel its effects on my skin after. However, today on the drive home I happened to look at the back of my hands (and then my face) and they looked SO SMOOTH and soft! This cream is definitely NOT greasy--I tend to break out in blackheads and small pimples with regular cream sunscreen, so had previously been using this awful zinc face wax which made me look scary and was so hard to wash off. Sun Bum by contrast goes on clear, it does not feel waxy or greasy, and it feels like a high-grade skin product that you might use for moisturizing. Full disclosure: I rarely take the time to write reviews because I am lazy, but decided that this product was worth my time especially given my husbandʻs skin condition. I wondered why the product comes in such a small jar but saw the "TSA approved" label on it, meaning you can take it on an airline without getting it confiscated. A little goes a long way but hubby tends to glob everything on, so I am going to be reordering more now. Read more

I use this sunscreen morning and night as my main moisturizer under makeup during the day and at night as moisturizer. I love it! You don't need to put alot on your face or neck to have great coverage. Lasts about a month per jar. But so worth the purchase. A little bit goes a long way. Too much and it does feel greasy on the face and takes a while to be absorbed. I have been using this product for 6 months and it is the best for all seasons. I am in my Seventies and as an additional benefit, it does help to keep wrinkles to a minimum and my face always feels soft not greasy or heavy from using it daily. Read more

This is easily the best value for a zinc oxide sunscreen I've ever found. I paid over $100 for a similar item at my dermatologist. When we're on vacation, I put this on in the mornings and don't think about it the rest of the day. I know I'm supposed to reapply, but I typically don't, and, I've never been burnt using this. I was desperately seeking a Zinc based sunscreen to save my skin - I'm a hiker/backpacker/mountain climber / SUPer. This past week I backpacked for 6 days in Yosemite - at high elevations (up to10,000'+) with intense sun and hot temps. I put Sun Bum to the true test! ...Well, this is the first time, in a long time, that I exited the mountains without a red face. (I'm very pale with sensitive skin.) I am thoroughly impressed with Sun Bum's performance!!! Additionally, I like the consistency of the lotion - thick but easy enough to spread and work into the skin. (Zinc generally takes a bit more effort to work in) As the lotion pot is small, I only use it for my face and neck. Smells great too! Will purchase again!! Read more

I am 56 and have spent my life sun burning very easily. My wife purchased this at the begining of summer, we have now purchased a larger supply. As a person with Cronic Sun Burning I stay away from water sports and then sun. But, we purchased a boat. I have spent this summer in the sun, and using this I have NOT sun burned once. This is amazing. I put it on as a base and spray myself throught the day with other products to keep something on, but, this is a base. I have spent multiple days with 12 hours on the water, I reapply this on my face as I hate sprays. Even my nose has not burned all summer. I can be the poster child for this..... Zero Sun Burns.... Awesome Summer.... Thank you Read more

Works well preventing too much sun but you do have to rub it in for awhile otherwise you look like you just have old school white zinc oxide plastered on yourself. Also these tubs are a little small for the money - I can usually get about a month or two out of a bottle of sunscreen using it several times per week (primarily on face/neck). I got maybe 2 weeks out of these. Read more

The only zinc oxide-based sunscreen that smells deliciously tropical. I have other zinc sunscreens, and the bizarre, somewhat medicinal fragrance they all have is my pet peeve. Sun Bum spreads easily and rubs in clear. No whitish cast and very moisturizing. My other zinc creams are difficult to spread on my skin. I live in Hawaii, and use it every day on my face, under my makeup. Instructions say to reapply every 2 hours, but as long as you are not actively rubbing it off you don't need to. Since it physically blocks UVA & UVB, it's once and done. I'm sure there are other great-smelling zinc or titanium dioxide-based sunscreens out there, but Sun Bum's price & yummy fragrance can't be beat. Deceptively small tub - I think it will last me a long time since it spreads so nicely. Read more
