I search for an economical full feature patio umbrella and purchased the Sunnyglade unit as it had all the main features of the expensive ones with a reasonable price. The sturdiness and weight of the umbrella tell the story. Large pole and metal supports. We haven’t used it a lot yet. Planning to do so as spring and summer roll around. But so far very happy with it. Oh yeah forgot to mention it is HUGE!!! It covers our entire 4 lounge chair area and easily swings over our 60” diameter 6 person dining table without moving the umbrella. Update 4/2025. Granted we don’t use the umbrella a ton but 4 years later and it still looks brand new. Make sure to invest in a cover. Cover will only last a couple years but cheaper to replace than an entire new umbrella. Get a good quality set of base weights. Makes the umbrella stable and easily resists tipping. Can twist and sway in slight winds. We use some paracord and tie the umbrella wings down to the base which greatly minimizes the swaying. If they still make this the same it’s a great value Read more

We simply love this umbrella. First of all, be aware, it’s huge and heavy and a two person job to set it up. The set up itself is simple, just lifting and moving will be an issue for one person. It’s a very heavy duty product, and because of the size and weight of it, the winds in our windy Las Vegas backyard do not seem to phase it. However, we will not open it up in a high wind situation. We can start out with a light breeze and suddenly a strong wind can come out of nowhere, but so far this umbrella has repelled wind gusts very well. The vent at the top makes a difference! We purchased the 200lb weighted base also made by Sunnyglade, and it fits this umbrella’s crossbar perfectly. We filled it with water, and it works incredibly well. I wasn’t happy about spending more money for the additional item, but it is a smart move, you must have the counterweight. Operation of the cantilever is easy and flawless, I can put it up and down easily without my husbands help, that was important to me, so, yes ladies, you can handle it alone. You can tilt or swivel it in many directions, but I haven’t really had to turn the umbrella by using the foot pedal because the circumference of it is so big, it shades my conversation pit all day long. This would be such a perfect option for someone with a pool that wants to swim in the shade. We ordered the blue color based on another review that mentioned it matched the Sunbrella Aruba color, which we have on our cushions, and it’s true the color matches very well, so thanks to that reviewer for the heads up. The Blue is Breath Taking! As far as color fading and longevity, we pretty much expect some fading in our intense sunny and hot situation. The umbrella material is very high quality and even reminds me of the Sunbrella material, so I’m hoping it holds up well. If you are on the fence about this purchase, I don’t know how much more quality you’d get with an 800.00 umbrella, but I wasn’t going to spend that much. This is very impressive at this price point! Sunnyglade has a great product here. Our backyard looks like a swanky resort now, no complaints! Read more

The umbrella was packed perfectly and there was little to install except the illustration for inserting the umbrella into the base was printed backwards and left two extra bolts that did not fit anywhere. Also, the umbrella was leaning. We took it out, turned it around and then it showed the openings where the two bolts were to go. The umbrella now is straight and sturdy. Very pleased with the quality and the material of the umbrella. Read more

After assembly, the umbrella is fairly sturdy in high winds (base screwed to deck). The weight of the umbrella tends to place a natural lean on the mast. I worry that over time, the weight and lean may affect the base of the mast (where the umbrella can be rotated). This lower assembly is of a chunky cast metal assembly and contains a bearing on which the mast can swivel. The manufacturer has attempted to reduce the chances of ripped material in shipping by placing doubled bubble wrap at the frame’s hinges. One metallic rib of the umbrella frame still came damaged from a bend near the tip (nothing too serious). Assembly instructions were fair at best. Fortunately, it’s not rocket science and can be figured out on one’s own. I required additional tools and hardware (for fastening to deck). Some of the fixtures of the mast construction were of lesser quality than expected. All in all, it is a better umbrella than less expensive models in local retail stores. After 18 months of service, the umbrella canvas has developed tears at three ribs near its periphery. The stresses seem to be highest at these points. To alleviate the stress we have not opened the umbrella fully to allow some sag between ribs. It seems to slow the rate of tear. The tears are less than 6” in length and maybe 1/2” in width (at most). Because they are at the ribs, it is not immediately noticeable to casual inspection. The base leans still at about the same precarious angle. The beefy metal seems to withstand the weight to this point well. I’ve lowered my rating one star because of the tears developing, but it appears it will last another year with care. It is still better than cheaper umbrellas we’ve purchased in the past. Read more

Our first umbrella arrived damaged, so I reordered and happily received a replacement and a refund immediately. It was easy to put together and has made my sunny deck habitable again. It rotates easily, and moves up and down with ease. I won't leave it up when we aren't using it so it lasts longer. Read more
