Tl;Dr Amazing product, helps soooo much with meal planning. Even though it's expensive it's been the most helpful thing for my dad to know what time it is and when to eat. If you're struggling with those things as a caregiver I highly recommend this product! This has been extremely, insanely helpful for my dad! He has vascular dementia and I had to get him on a meal schedule because he wasn't remembering that he just ate 15 minutes ago. He started gaining weight because he'd have meals back to back then multiple snacks. Quick note: I spent months teaching him how to safely use the microwave (using minute plus) and I typically do things to make it easier for him to make his own food- example: for sandwiches I cut up tomatoes, onion, bell pepper, lettuce, and cheese so he can make a good sandwich on his own. Sidenotes: the frustration of teaching him this almost made me give up, but it really paid off. The more you make someone with dementia rely on you for things the more they will, and the faster they forget on their own and the faster they decline. Quick tip: he can't open/close regular ziplocks, but the slider style works perfect! I searched for quite awhile to find a clock with am/pm, the day of the week, and the date. I came across this which also has morning, afternoon, evening and night. Some days he struggles more, but such is the nature of dementia/Alzheimer's. He will often come out many much more times to look at the clock every few minutes to see if it's time for food. Sometimes he just goes for it and I have to intervene. But still it helps him figure things out on his own. By far it's the best visual cue that my dad can understand. I use this along with a magnet whiteboard on the fridge with the eating schedule, and I put a check mark next to the meal/snack after he eats it. I usually do this in front of him which sometimes helps. All in all, highly recommended. For the caregivers, hang in there!! It's one of the most challenging and heartbreaking jobs in the world, so don't be too hard on yourself if you have a difficult day. If you ever have questions or need to vent, Alzheimer's association has a 24/7 advice line with therapists and many other professionals there to help; they can answer any and all dementia related questions, it's truly incredible. 1-800-272-3900 Read more

I haven't heard my mom so excited about anything as she is about this clock in a long time! She is in an Assisted Living home and has had trouble remembering the date, the day and even (on cloudy days) if it's morning or evening. This answers everything for her and she can see it from any part of her room. And I no longer have to tell her a dozen times if it's Thursday or Friday...so it's not only a gift for my mom, but for the rest of the family as well! She can't stop talking about it and how nice it is. I also set the alarm. I haven't heard it, but she said it went off right on time this morning (6:00am) and was very loud. She said it came on several times and then went off. She is thrilled she doesn't have to turn it off, that it goes off on it's own. This is one of the best things I have seen for dementia patients. She has all the information she needs and doesn't have to depend on someone else to let her know the day, date or time. Now she calls to tell ME what time it is! ha! This is a GREAT clock. Read more

Ordered this for my 85 yr old mom who has early stage dementia. She absolutely LOVES this clock. Before, she could not remember what day it was. She prefers the softer yellow letters which she can easily read from across the room and which auto-dim at 7pm. She said that this would be an excellent Christmas present for any elderly person. Set-up is simple. Unbox it, plug it in and press the menu button on the back to access the on-screen menus. All the menu options aren't displayed at the same time. Simply scroll down to see the other options such as display color or to turn off auto-dimming. It is a/c powered and does not, to my knowledge, have a battery backup. We did not try the alarm feature. This is a cool clock for any elderly person. Read more

great for our nursery. it's so hard to guess the time by looking at a clock with a dark screen while holding a baby in the middle of the night! I am nearsighted so the BIG font helps a TON! Love it that it is dimmable (I have been searching specifically for a dimmer version) so it doesn't light up the entire room at night. It has medium dim and low dim for an automatic dimmer (turns on at 7pm and off at 7 am) Menu of adjustments is super simple. Has 2 alarms. I wish this clock had an option of adjusting the time when the display dims (it's a pre-set at 7 pm "on"and "off" at 7 am). I wish they had more font color choices. otherwise a great bedroom clock!
