It's a Beloved Toy for Pets (Circular Giggle) My Aussie Shepherd mix is so entertained by this ball, entirely because of the noises it makes. And, honestly, every time he plays with it, I end of laughing until my cheeks ache. That noise is just so flippin' funny! He's a 50-lb dog, and this is a good size ball for him to pick up with his mouth or push around with his nose or paws. I don't leave it out where he can access it whenever he wants; I like for it to maintain some novelty for him, so a couple times a week I give it to him for play time, and afterwards, I put it away. That way I can also make sure he doesn't start playing with this and making a racket while I'm on a work phone call. He's a very intense chewer, but he hasn't shown any interest in gnawing on this ball. He just punts it around and chases it. I have no doubt he could chew through the ball with some time and concentration, but I'm glad he hasn't tried. One thing to be aware of is that this ball is hard plastic, and when the dog punts it towards a wall or furniture indoors, it can absolutely cause some damage to those surfaces. We have some windows that go almost to the ground, and we won't let him play with this indoors or outdoors where he has access to those windows so he can't accidentally break one. Also, we make sure our smaller, very old dog isn't in the vicinity because if this ball hit him at speed, it could really hurt him. With a little mindfulness on anything in the vicinity that could be hurt (other pets, kids, and anything breakable), this is a brilliant toy. If I could give this ball 7 stars, I would! My aging 10 year old Lab has become a puppy again! He and our 8 month old Pittie play with this ball so often, I purchased a second ball plus one for our pet sitter's dog. I even sent the purchase link to a colleague for her dogs this week. - The giggle noise is infectious! You will be laughing alongside your pets - that is, unless you find the noise annoying. We primarily use this toy outside (as opposed to in the house) for that reason. - The ball is much larger than expected. Regular "chuck" balls are much smaller. However the large size makes this ball easier for dogs to push around with their snouts. My larger dog has no issue picking it up (and running away with it) but the puppy cannot... yet. - It glows in the dark as advertised, but not brightly. Keep that in mind if you plan to use it outside in the darker months. - The ball is very hard, not soft and rubbery. So far this has not posed an issue for us, and it does make the toy a bit more durable. - Note that if you wash the ball, be very careful not to get water in the "giggle" holes. The mechanism will fail to emit sound until it fully dries, rendering it much less fun. - As mentioned, we purchased 2 more and told others about this ball. Update: The dog finally got his turn, and he is obsessed. Our 3-year-old cane corso eventually reclaimed this ball and absolutely loves it. The size is perfect for a big, boxy, short-snout dog. He can pick it up easily, stop it with the textured gripping pockets, and carry it around without struggling. It fits his mouth just right, which is saying something for this breed. He’s been carrying it up the stairs and dropping it so it giggles on the way down, which our toddler finds hysterical. At this point they’ve worked out a loose custody agreement and both are very happy with the arrangement. It works exactly as intended as a dog toy, holds up well, and still gets laughs out of the humans. For the price, it’s doing more work in this house than most toys manage to. ------------------------------------- I originally grabbed this for our dog, since he already has a smooth giggle ball and goes nuts for it. The plan lasted about three seconds. My toddler heard the noise this one makes, laughed so hard he fell over, and claimed it as his. Now he chases it around the house like it’s his full-time job. Honestly, I can’t blame him. The sound is ridiculous in the best way and the textured sides make it easy for little hands (or paws) to grab. As a dog toy, it seems sturdy enough and the size is great. As a household entertainment device for a still-mostly-crawling human, it is unexpectedly fantastic.
