I have moderate to severe dry eye. It recently got to the point that I could not see well at any distance, and was even unable to read! Of course, I went to the eye doctor for a proper diagnosis before I put anything in my eyes. Not only did my eye. doctor tell me about Systane, he actually took me to the shelve to pick out the exact Systane product he wanted me to use, there are many types of Systane drops and gels one can try. Systane is preservative free, many other dry eye products are not. My dry eye situation at the time was so severe, I had to use the drops every hour on the hour. Within two weeks my vision had completely gotten better. Dry eye is a chronic situation for me, but I use the drops daily as needed, as per my eye doctor's advice. The Systane drops brought cooling relief, and completely stopped me from having that dry, gritty feeling, and the vision in my eyes improved, more than I ever thought was possible without needing an expensive prescription. I have Blepharitis and I stay under a doctors care. My doctor actually wanted me to get Retain. I did and they did not work at all. I then tried another brand. Sistine is the name and it comes in separate containers. They have snap on tops so you can use half and them go back and use the rest. Once open you have to refrigerate! The reason for the fridge is as follows.... This brand does not contain preservatives. Preservatives and my eyes are not a good match. My Sistine is wonderful. For me these are the first drops that help make the tears that I need. They feel sort of oily to the touch..on your hand........lol they DONT MAKE YOUR EYES BLUR or do anything like an oily product would. I cant say enough about this PRODUCT.... They are fantastic. The Systane Ultra Preservative-free Lubricant Eye drops are perfect for someone like me who has extreme dry eyes! My ophthalmologist highly recommended this product to go hand-in-hand with prescription treatments he has prescribed me. I couldn't agree more with his recommendation! The "ultras" really make a difference from the "regular" eye drops. These soothe the eyes much better and last longer than the regular eye drops. I love the portable, discreet, individual vials that the drops come in so you can pack them in your purse, in your pant or shirt pocket, a carry on, etc. So if you want tears. moisture, relief from dry, scratchy, gritty eyes...these will definitely help you out!! I love these eye drops. I had such a problem with the preservatives in other eye drops that I've used. They all made the skin around my eyes and my eyelash area itch terribly. That why I decided to try the Systane Preservative Free drops. They are so soothing. The little vile opens easily enough. My only complaint is that, even after putting two drops in each eye (4 drops total), the little vile is still half full and there's no way to reclose it so you're wasting so much of it. This of course adds to the expense. I'm going to see if I can find these in a regular bottle that can be recapped. Read more
I like systane products. I use them as I have dry eyes and they are very helpful in making my eyes fee better. I like the "single dose" product. It can go with me and even though it is single use you can recap it. I would only do this if you were going to use it again in the same day. otherwise bacteria can grow and you need to be careful not to contaminate the tip of the vial. I have dry eyes in general, but now I live on a northern beach that is very windy. My eye dryness worsened from sea air, which has dehydrating effects, and fine sand whipped up by high winds. My eyes hurt and felt positively gritty. These drops have made my eyes so much more comfortable, and even improve the vision in my right eye cased by dryness (as per my ophthalmologist) I definitely use the whole vial, using more drops per eye, but hey, you need to use it after you open it! So I’ve definitely gotten my money’s worth! Tip: don’t just drop multiple times on the same spot...move your eyeball to get it in the top of eyeball and the bottom...even side to side.
