Really, it is! For me it is easy to use and I feel like some kind of covert operative. I haven't used it to catch anybody doing anything (yet!) but I tend to keep it with me just in case. My husband has had some theft at his work, also, so I'm thinking he would benefit from using this. Really, it's hard to tell it's not for a car. It's great for adults especially if you are ever in a risky type situation. I can see kids loving this too! I used to be all into spy stuff (young adult fiction) and I would have thought I had arrived as a private investigator. Zero complains. Ok, one.....but not important. I wish the cap somehow was tethered to it, I'm always scared a cat will think it's a cat toy when I'm charging it. Other than that though, it's perfect. Read more
This is a beautifully subtle camcorder. The instructions were fairly simple to follow and the recording image was clear and stable, with a very wide view. It was easy to view as well - just connect via usb-c to laptop and it registered the device instantly. It does have limited capacity - it records about an hour and a half. And the cover can be a little tricky to remove. But this was super easy to use and will make a great short-use nanny cam! Read more
The media could not be loaded. This is the sort of gadget that quite literally would only have been available to James Bond a few years ago. It's shaped like a car key fob, complete with lock, unlock, trunk button, and keyring holder. If you examine it really closely you can tell it's not a real one, but from a distance if it's sitting on a shelf or a table (especially camouflaged among other keys or a messy desk) no one would possible suspect that it's a camera. The camera lens is on one side and is literally less than the size of a ball bearing. It's perfectly disguised in the key fob. The other end of the key fob snaps open to reveal a USB-C port and a tiny set of LED lights to help you figure out when you're recording. The cover is very hard to snap off, and you almost feel like you're going to break it, but that's by design to further prevent curious eyes from figuring out your secret. Each of the buttons on the key fob is functional, but instead of locking and unlocking your car, you use them to switch the camera on and start recording. The fob will continue to record on a loop until the battery runs out. It takes a while to get used to the controls: you need to power the camera on by long pressing the third button (you'll feel a rumble) and use one of the top two buttons to start recording either in 2K or 1080p respectively. You'll see a green light blink three times to let you know that recording has started. From there, you just lay it down and let it go. It can get confusing trying to remember what you pressed and even figuring out if the thing is on and recording but again that's all by design. You don't want your fake key fob to be blinking lights or making noises. I plugged it into my MacBook Pro, using my own USB-C to USB-C cable. The first cable didn't work, but the second one worked like a charm; the flash drive mounted on my computer and I could see a list of .MOV files. The picture quality and detail is surprisingly good for such a small camera. Bear in mind that it doesn't have audio. It makes for a great backup for a security camera system. Ironically, the fact that it looks so plain and clunky is a testament to how much engineering went into this. Read more
Hidden camera in a lightweight, fake car keyfob. The snap required to pull off the end was a little strong and made me nervous that it will break. My main issue was that I couldn't tell when the video was running or not. I pressed it and the light went on indicating it was on. But then the light went out. So was it still recording? I couldn't tell. I couldn't tell if it was on, I couldn't tell if it was off. The blue light didn't stay on when it was on. So the video I ended up recording was nothing because I put it back in my purse and it overwrote whatever I had recorded. If you can babysit this thing and figure out if it is on, then maybe it is for you. Read more
Big thing to remember here: this records ONLY video. NO audio will be recorded. There is NO microphone. So, keep that in mind! Which, really, I'm not sure what situations where you wouldn't care about audio. I feel in most situations you need audio. Especially, in a gadget like this.. Other than that, the video is pretty good. The difference between the 1080P and the 4K are noticeable. The 4K is quite clear. Neither do well in low or no light. There is no infrared, 'nightvision', or low-light compensating technology. So, now we're restricted to a situation in a well-lit area, where audio doesn't matter, and where pointing a key FOB or leaving a key FOB would make sense. I guess you leave a key FOB on the counter and maybe your desk.. This just seems to fit such a specific set of circumstances, and again, audio will be irrelevant unless you are recording it another way and this is just a different angle, that I see it more as a gimmick. Okay, one scenario it would work, is if you used it as a deterrent. If someone was getting hostile, you could tell them that you are recording them on your key FOB, and maybe they'll believe you and back off, or maybe they think you're nuts for pointing a key FOB at them and telling them it's a hidden camera and they back off. Third direction that could go, they just get hostile/violent anyway and you wish you bought some bear mace or that metal whip thing, instead. But the video works great if you need it as evidence for court. Though, no audio so the other party could deny that you told them you were recording... really...tough to find a scenario where this works. Read more
