Tales of Graces f Remastered on PS5 is a triumphant return of a beloved classic! The vibrant anime-inspired visuals pop in crisp 4K at 60 FPS, while the fast-paced combat system, with its deep combo mechanics and innovative Title system, remains as addictive as ever. Quality-of-life upgrades like auto-save, encounter toggles, and destination markers make this adventure more accessible without losing its charm. The heartfelt story of Asbel and friends, paired with Mutsumi Inomata’s gorgeous art, delivers a nostalgic yet fresh experience. A must-play for JRPG fans Read more

I give the game 5 stars with the caveat that I'm playing the game as a fan of the Tales series on its own terms and not trying to apply objective criteria to it. In other words, if we started analyzing the game in terms of storytelling, characters, tone, and all the other aesthetic criteria, it may end up not being amazing. But if you're a fan of the Tales series then you will enjoy this game. Also, if you're new to the series and wondering if this would be a good entry point, I would say yes (although Tales of Vesperia or Tales of Symphonia may be a better option for newcomers). The series provides a pretty consistent experience across its titles, and Tales of Graces F is no exception. I can't say how this remaster compares to the original because I never played it. But this game is enjoyable and has the elements that fans of the series love. Read more

The opening animation has a lot of screen tearing, it gave me a headache to watch it was so bad. But that’s apparently unique to the PS5 version, so hopefully they patch it. That aside the game runs mostly flawlessly, just a few small quick drops in frames. The overall game is my favorite Tales of game for combat, and it’s great to have it playable on a newer console again. There are some Quality of Life added from the PS3 version. Starting the game you get the shop to buy bonuses which was usually a NG+ feature in past games. You have enough points to get most of the upgrades too (bonus xp, bonus sp, crit chance for you and enemies, damage for you and enemies, increased item inventory, etc). And there’s also optional directions on where to go. It’s a solid overall package. Read more

This was one of the first Tales games that I played all the way through and got me absolutely attached to the series. This version has a lot of great quality of life improvements. As someone who previously beat the game, it was nice to already have the grade to buy from the shop when creating a fresh save in this version. You can toggle most of the benefits on/off, so I have the freedom to change it as I'd like while playing the game. Overall the game is still good. The title system is one of my favorite ways to learn skills and gain stats. The voice acting is good, though I will continue to prefer the Japanese voice acting. It does take a while for the game to get into full swing, as the childhood era seems never-ending before the world opens up to you and you start gaining the rest of your team. Read more
