High quality at great price point

Denise J. SedaJuly 22, 2022

Received our new TCL and it was delivered with great care. Packaged extremely well, you would never know it was delivered, the box was fully intact just as if we picked it up ourselves. The picture is amazing, the colors are crisp and the TV speakers have great sound even before adding to the surround sound receiver. Setup was extremely easy, connected right to our Google account within a couple of minutes. The WiFi connection works really well, we haven't noticed any lag time. This TV has a lot of bang for your buck, it's a great buy. Read more

Slow, laggy, frustrating.

AlastairOctober 24, 2022

I'm very disappointed with this TV. The hardware really struggles to handle the software they've loaded on it, the delays on the remote presses can range from half a second to 5 seconds when it's really struggling. there is a constant audio delay when I use an optical cable to send sound through my receiver. Lastly the Chromecast simply doesn't work with screen sharing only YouTube chrome cast works. you'd think for a Google TV, Chromecast would be basic functionality. Im currently trying to process a return after a few weeks being constantly frustrated with this TV. Read more

Excellent Picture Quality at a Great Price

Mike M.May 19, 2022

This checked all the boxes for me. Picture quality is excellent, especially after tweaking some settings. The Google TV OS runs fine after initial setup, which takes a bit. Considering the price, this is a lot of TV for the money. The only concessions I made were 3 HDMIs (I wanted 4), and the 60hz panel (I wanted 120hz). However, those are not realistic expectations for a 75" below $800. I considered the Hisense U6G, but passed considering they now use an IPS panel in the 75". I much prefer the VAs. Read more

Has it's issues, but great value

Joshua EgbertOctober 16, 2022

I love Google TV over Roku, but this TV has software problems. It is laggy on the home screen, in apps, and sometimes will drop frames when watching content causing jittering. In order to watch anything in a decent manner you have to re-calibrate all the settings for every type of content (sdr hdr hlg Dolby). Once you get it tuned, it is excellent for the $400 you spend. Also, the screen is unevenly lit so there are noticable bands when showing a grey/uniform color image. This isn't noticable unless the screen is showing an image with similar colors, but it definitely a defect. These flaws are outweighed by the cheap price and abundant features, making it a solid 4/5. If they could fix the issues, this tv would be an instant recommendation. For now, if you buy this tv, be prepared to tinker with settings. Read more

Great Picture for the price Absolutely Horrible Software

B WallaceMarch 8, 2023

So for around $400 the picture cannot be beat. I've had this tv 4 months now and only bought it for the master bedroom for the fiance and for the most part it's okay. I'm not comparing this to my 77 OLEDs but just a general TV review. The software is SLOW and freezes constantly using media streaming over a enterprise class wireless AX network pulling from a twin gig bonded Synology raid with 4 SSDs in RAID 5. Yeah; no excuse for this. Every other device pulls 120MB/s from that RAID limited by bandwidth control. The menu also freezes and I have to unplug the tv from wall about 40% of the time. It really is more of a pain than it's worth. The picture is bright but there are visible vertical wave lines in certain scenarios I cannot pinpoint. Overall the television is not worth the headache with so many other players in the market. Read more

Reasonably decent, but a misstep in my TCL experience.

Hugo J.December 4, 2022

I've had 2 TCL TV's before and they've been great - I suspect the difference might be related to the fact that my previous versions were Roku TV's and this one is a Google TV. In the past, the Roku-based TV's were quick to respond, ran quite smoothly, and the interfaces were really good for making changes to picture quality (i.e. as you adjusted the tint, you can see the effect pretty clearly). I suspect the Google interface is the problem here as it is remarkably laggy/crashes, much more than my experience with Android phones. Sifting through menus has a noticeably delay between each item, and you're guaranteeing a system freeze/hang if you sift too fast. In addition to the operating system problems, the picture quality seems unfixably odd. For instance, when I watch high contrast videos (like something from the recent Star Wars franchise, or even some of the scenes from the Sopranos), rather than get smooth gradations of darkness, you get a lot of image grain. This is also inconsistent, as sometimes images are grainy, and then if the scene cuts to another angle, the scene gets smooth again. This is especially jarring in darker-themed movies, shows, but I even saw it happen in brighter things, like Superstore or HGTV shows, though this time, you get some odd sections of the screens getting really overly softened vs. the reasonably sharp other parts of the screen (kinda odd seeing Dina yell at Jonah, and Dina's face looks like a smushed pancake but you can see every part of Jonah's five-o-clock shadow - it's not the makeup, either, because it's so bizarre I even notice it on the rest of the background of the shots.). I've tried making adjustments on all picture elements, and while I can seem to improve things, it's never good. I suspect this has to do with some image processing by the TV, and it is quite disappointing as my previous TCL's never had this problem. It's a serviceable TV, for sure, and if you're less particular about image quality, it probably won't bug you, but it is really a bummer to go from really great TCL's to this. I also don't quite get why the operating system is so laggy - it's not unusable, but very obviously not as smooth as Androids on anything else. I'll probably get a Roku TCL next time, but I might do a little more test driving in the future as I'm not sure if the image processing issue is an operating system thing or a TV hardware thing.
