Excellent rack and customer service. beware size!!
Let me start with my mistakes, after looking on amazon and the mfg page I thought I was prepared for the 'perfect' size 42u rack. my one mistake was the height did not include the wheels and stabilizing posts, causing it to not fit through a standard height door frame, solution was to assemble the unit, then remove the base. the unit was set on sliders and moved to the location, laid down and the base was reattached. not a big issue, but will need to be emptied if ever taken out of the room it's currently in adding a lot of work. If you are utilizing this in a home consider the 27u model instead if mobility is a concern. Post sale customer service: In a word, Excellent. the day i received it I watched the shipper just roll the box containing the top and bottom out of their truck and onto the concrete before I could stop them. Needless to say both the top and bottom were bent and damaged. Could the material on these parts be thicker? sure, but they are sufficient for normal operation and the damage was clearly from the shipper and not due to manufacturing or QA. I contacted Tecmojo via their website and received a call from them AFTER their hours of operation. Who does that anymore, needless to say I was super impressed. They overnighted me new pieces and they arrived flawless. Build: instructions were clear and build was easy with one person. Due to the size and weight the box containing the inner frame needed to be opened and pieces transported in batches. It took a few hours to assemble, but was easily completed with just a standard screwdriver. The unit is sturdy and well designed. Accessories: The included 1u shelf is a bit short considering the depth of the unit but is standard, the power strip is a nice addition but could be larger considering the size of the unit. I didn't have a use for the rail kit but they appear sturdy and well built. I was shocked at how quiet the included fans were, they move sufficient air and noise is very low (approx 20 db?) but I don't see them adding a ton of value to a mesh rack as airflow through is quite open and not controlled like an enclosed system. The cage nuts and screws are color matched and not cheaply made. (I even returned the rack studs i purchased for the lighter items like shelves, switches, patch panel, etc) Conclusion: after searching for weeks for an enclosed server cabinet, the value for the price (I paid $999) couldn't be beat. yes there are cheaper options available but I'm more than happy with this purchase, already purchasing additional Tecmojo items (snap in 1u and 2u blank covers, pull out shelf, 4u drawer). All items had great build quality and price. I will continue to support this brand with all my home lab needs! Read more
