These 4 towels (I bought 2 sets) were packaged in two heavy, zippered vinyl containers - they'll end up in the landfill. Why not save money and pack in brown paper or something else that is environmentally friendly? I washed the towels on a cold water gentle cycle with unscented, phthalate free detergent and dried them on low for 30 minutes, then hung to air out. We don't use dryer sheets! Kept trying to figure out why the laundry room smelled so chemically. Strong bleach smell in the towels even after the initial gentle wash! Finally washed again_ using Scent-away on cotton wash cycle. This seems to have removed the odor. Note, organic bedding purchased on Etsy from Europe has NO chemical smell. The towels aren't as soft as they were when received (because 2 washings removed the fabric conditioners/softeners used after manufacture), but they are a good weight and I like the colors. I don't care if my towels feel like chenille or velvet. I just don't want toxic chemicals on them! Why sell an organic product with added toxins? Read more
