This has been my go-to shaving soap for many years... lasts for about a year and it works great. Just for something different I will add a squeeze of some other shaving soaps to the top before I lather up my brush. Read more

This is the very best shaving soap available. The scent is nice, the lather is exceptional and it seems to be good for my skin. I only use it on my head. I don't shave my beard off (trimmers for neatness) but for head shaving, it's silly to say this but it's like a dream shave soap. I had a shave soap that I bought at a little shop in Myrtle Beach, that was similar price as this, handmade, and I loved it but that's a five hour trip. I took the chance on this Art of Shaving soap and it's as good as the beach one. The only place I shave with a razor besides my head is my neck and there's just no irritation on my neck or head when using it. It's so good, I don't think I need to keep going. If it's not too expensive for you, this is highly recommended. I'm a person who tries to save money. I've had this bar for 2 months, use it 3 times a week and I can still see the etched brand in it. Typically, a bar this size will last me a year. That's a couple dollars a month, it's worth it to me to avoid the irritation. Last, I use an Omega badger brush to apply, Read more

My husband has been using shaving soap / brush since his Vietnam days. He has used a lot of different soaps but when I purchased this soap for him from the Art of Shaving store he was hooked. Then I found it on line which helped as we don't have a store near us. I asked him how it was and he said it makes his shave easy, with his excellent razor he is able to do a close shave quickly. His skin is always nice, smooth and smells good too! His grooming is A++....which is important for an "older" man and hair tends to grow everywhere. He also uses the Art of Shaving after shave cream which smells awesome - Sandalwood Essential Oil After Shave Balm. Thanks Art of Shaving and THANKS to my hubby for being so picky! Well worth the price! Read more

I bought this in a sandlewood mug many years ago. Along with a boars hair brush. Made to last a lifetime. I had forgotten how good this shaving soap is. I have tried many other brands but none could compare. Some had foam but no smell or the foam wouldn't last. Or not a close shave. The Art of Shaving is worth the price. And the refill lasts a long time. Treat yourself. You won't be sorry Read more

This is my 11th purchase of your product. The first 10 were fantastic! Great smell, great rich creamy lather, excellent shaving experience, expensive but outstanding value. This last bar of soap has left me extremely disappointed. The lather is thin and by the time I am finished with 1/2 of my face, the “lather” on the other side has evaporated. I can get a longer lasting lather from a simple bar of hand soap. This has never happened before and I’m convinced I either got a bum bar or you have cheapened the formula. Read more

pros: I put this in a beautiful Parker shaving mug (microwave it a little), get a bunch of lather on my silverback brush and create sandalwood scented lather in a ceramic bowl. This works great and the shavette shave works great. For me, the scent is even better than Henry Cavendish and Men's Soap Company (will not buy again). I also use TOBS which smells a little more soapy but is also great for shaving. I could lather right in the Parker mug buy I like to heat up my bowl so my second pass shave is also warm. May use a little more if lathering in the cup with the soap. Cons: I have to work a little harder with any of the pucks to get enough soap onto my brush to prepare lather in my shaving bowl but so what. The soft soaps like TOBS are already to scoop out without working at it. I wonder if the ingredients in most of these shaving pucks are largely the same and almost all of them work just fine. Differences in price are mostly marketing. Conclusion: I will be buying this again. Read more
