this is definitely my most expensive purchase for myself ever, but it was absolutely worth it! i had a beach waver for years until it finally gave out and after a while of looking for the best replacement, i finally ordered this one! it is amazing quality and i can curl my whole head in 15 minutes versus 30-40 minutes at times because of how old my other one was! this is absolutely worth the money! My daughter has this set and used it often when she had short hair. Maybe that is why she likes it more than I do. I found it really tough to use for long thick hair mainly because the piece that clamps the hair down is way too short. Even using very small sections I really had to fight to get the ends in and curled. I don't have any problems with my traditional curling iron so it seemed more work to have to maneuver the hair in the clamp and then hit the button and wait for it to spin. It was also harder to get a smooth flat curl. It kept wanting to bunch up at the top while waiting for it to spin. I am sure there is a learning curve and I would figure it out eventually but it just seemed unnecessary. However if you are someone who struggles with a traditional curling iron this just might be your thing. It does work really well and didn't snag or tangle my hair really much at all. I didn't expect it to work so well from that standpoint. For me the main reason I still gave it four stars was for the mega cone wand. I really wanted to try that out and I loved the results. It definitely gives a slightly different look that I really liked especially the next day relaxed version. I will definitely be keeping the iron in order to use the mega cone but it will not be replacing my everyday iron since it is so hard to get the hair into the tiny clamp for as much hair as I have to work with. I thought the shape of these was weird at first but after using, I get it! The tapered base attachments create looser waves at the end for the perfect “natural waves” look and has quickly become my favorite way to use this! The look of this is perfect too. Matches all my other light pink and rose gold stylers. The heat in these seems to be much less damaging but sets a curl much better than air stylers in my opinion, which my fine hair (and our humid weather) normally has trouble with. They are surprisingly light and easy to switch out. The size of the barrels is great for long hair, especially for the thicker barrels which work for even super long hair. The auto curling function is great for people with wrist limitations or who has trouble with classic curling styles. I also love that it comes with a carry case and it feels like it will really last. It’s pricey but worth it! Read more

This is a review of Beachwaver Multi Barrel - Pink Rosegold This is an amazing package. The set comes in a sturdy case, and all the pieces are so lovely. The set even comes with a light pink silicon cover that you can put over one of the barrels to protect things from the heat, let’s say, while traveling. You can also use that pouch to protect your counter from the hot barrel while styling, but realistically for me it is more comfortable to use larger counter-protecting mat so I don’t have to be soooo careful. The very protective case makes it perfect for travel, if you have room in your suitcase. Airline restrictions on luggage mean I won't be taking this on any flights. I ordered this set because I was interested in the 3 different size barrels to make different size curls. Changing the barrel is quite easy. The unit heats up well and creates great curls. While in some ways curling my hair using this this curling iron takes longer, other aspects of the device streamline the process. First, the slow part: because my hair is pretty thick, putting the end of the hair under the little clip is a bit fiddly, especially since I probably put in too much hair all at once. But if I put only small super-manageable amounts of hair in, then I need to go through the curling process more times, making it take longer to finish my hair. On the other hand, that amazing “rotating barrel” feature does make the rolling up and unrolling parts quicker and easier. Over time, I’m sure I will get faster, but my hair will still be thick, so I wish the clip were a bit longer. When I think about the name of this device, “Beach waver,” I realize that it is excellent at what it is designed to do: make beach waves. Beach waves (google tells me) are loose waves or curls that mimic what happens to some people’s hair after they swim in salty water. When creating such waves artificially, about 1” at the ends of the hair is typically left straight (not stick straight, but not a curl). If that not-curled end is desired, then the short clip on this device works well since you don’t have to fiddle and get the very ends under the clip. While using any new beautification device takes practice, this beach waver creates a good look even for newbies. If you want to create the exact same look that you created with your old curling iron—and you have thick hair—that might take some practice. I ended up being very happy with the beach waver, though I reserve it for grand occasions or when I have extra time. If I am in a mad rush to just make my hair look decent, I pull out my old flat iron and turn the ends of my hair under just slightly to get rid of that classic look straight-haired people living in humid climates might recognize: the ends of the hair stick-straight-yet-poking-out-at-strange-angles phenomenon. This is a great curling set but it might not be the best for everyone. Read more

I love the travel case for this, but if you don't want to carry a big box with you the curler is typically sized for travel. It is pretty intuitive but I do wish there were instructions about actually styling your hair - ie which barrel to chose and which direction to turn. But in general it was VERY easy to use and my hair looks great. The only issue i really had is that after rotating sometimes I didn't have the clamp in the front so you could accidentally grab the barrel when trying to release, but i expect that will become more intuitive after my frequent use. You also want to make sure you rotate it back to "neutral" to be able to set the curling iron down as well Read more
