This is a fantastic book for a 12-year-old boy. That’s a soccer fanatic. My son enjoyed this book so much that he asked me to order more books by this author. Read more
I bought this for my 11 year old son who is a big fan of soccer (football) and Messi. He is not a big reader but he read this book twice! He told me about each and every chapter that he read. After he finished reading it for the second time I picked it up and read it myself! I can see why he enjoyed it. This book tells the story of Lionel Messi starting with his childhood and introduces you the reader to the people and events that shaped his life and ultimately his career in a lovely storytelling fashion. I found myself being so interested in his journey that the book was hard to put down! Read more
I bought this for my 9 year old son as he idolizes Leo Messi. The book has been a great chronicle for him of Messi's young life and his entry into Barcelona FC. My son has really enjoyed reading about him and clearly the book has kept his attention. He read it over a couple of days. Read more
I have to say my 10 and 8 years old boys. As soon as the book arrived. My older one started to read it right of way. I ask my son what you like about the book, he said . It give you details information about Ronaldo's life that he didn't knew. . Easy to understand and Well vocabulary. And every chapter is interesting. It makes you want to keep reading. I wish the writer can make more books about other soccer players..I would get them all..for my boys. I am glad I bought two more.. Keep up the good work. Read more
My Grandson, who is in the 4th grade, had to do a biography book report , and since he is sooo into soccer it was Lionel Messi whom he chose. He is a huge fan of Leo Messi. The story was one we read together, and it showed him as a young boy, and this my grandson related to, with a soccer ball always at his feet. Leo overcame some difficulties due to health issues. He also was a giving person in his foundation for children. I rate this book high, because it helped my grandson see the good in life, despite the difficulties people face, and showed family loyalty.. Read more
This book is okay. I guess I expected more. The writing is not great - the action is a little stilted, and the characters (real people of course, but as described in the book) are pretty flat. But, it is telling the story, and is written at a level where my almost 9 year old can read it himself. We usually read it together and I try and make it seem more exciting than it is... Read more
I echo the previous comments posted by parents with soccer loving kids – my 5th grade son loves this book. As soon as he received the book he began reading it, it is one of the few things that is regularly packed in the backpack for school (along with his cleats and soccer ball). He has made various comments since beginning to read the book which demonstrated that he learned about Messi's beginnings and the amount of work and dedication that it takes to achieve a goal. It is hard to find good quality nonfiction books for boys. This one was a good find, he has read it countless times. I would love to find similar books to ensure he continues to be passionate about reading. Read more
