I have fine hair neck/shoulder length. I use this just at the base of my roots to give my hair a little bit of lift and to get it to flow the direction I want. It works really good. A little goes a long way. Around lunch time I just kinda massage my roots and get that lift a quick touch up and it last the rest of the day. I decided to try out the powder style hair stuff, typically I use a gel style but I’m very glad I made the switch. It’s very easy to just add a little bit at a time which means I never end up using too much. I have very thick hair that has a will of its own, and I’m going for a much more shaped style than bedhead, so I’m a different customer from the hipster guys with fine, thin hair that these products tend to be marketed to. I think I’ve tried every type of product out there, from mousse to spray to gel to pomade. I hate crispy hair that can’t be touched. So I finally settled on pomade, but you can ruin it by applying it too thick, and it’s not easy to readjust during the day. This stuff is really different. Unlike some reviewers of powders, I don’t find it to be all that sticky or hard to wash out - it’s certainly way less so than any other product, and much easier to wash off your hands. Your hair pretty much just feels like hair, yet it’s easy to reshape if things go awry the first time. It gives great texture as advertised. You don’t need very much, so in my opinion the small bottle is priced appropriately. This product will not hold down short hair that sticks out, such as cowlicks or short, cropped sides. You will need to continue to use pomade or another stronger product for that. Also, I find that things tend to fall out of place slightly during the day, so I reshape a couple of times in the restroom, which is however fortunately possible with this product. My recommendation is to blow dry your wet hair into the rough desired shape, apply the powder and style, then use a little pomade or another strong product to hold down any bits that want to stick out. I’ve use this product to help add volume and reduce shine in my hair. So far, it seems to be work ok. In the quest to add hair products to style my hair, I’ve been trying to research and find it. My hair is straight and its tricky to style it. As I get older, the hair volume isn’t like it was in my 20s. So I was in the market for a texturizing/volumizing product that worked without introducing a water-based product and the assistance of a hair dryer. To be honest, these volumizing powder products (including this one) do a great job with what its supposed to do: provide volume and reduce sheen. A little goes a long way and you have to make sure to work it in.
