What an awesome tool!! I've only had this 45mm Olfa rotary cutter for about 4 days, & normally I would wait longer to write a review on a new tool, but this rotary cutter is just amazingl!! So accurate, easy to use, safe, comfortable in my hand, sturdy, & cuts through anything I tried with ease. I had gotten one of the cheap rotary cutters, because it came with 9 blades. It was a nightmare, & it couldn't even cut anything, except my fingers. I then ordered this Olfa cutter the next day. It shipped almost immediately & I had it in 2 days. I noticed that the Japanese version came with an extra replacement blade, which the U.S. version did not. Also, the Japanese version is less expensive, much less if you add in the cost of the extra blade. The only difference between the Japanese & U.S. version is that the directions on the back of the packaging is in Japanese or in English. Tip: If you search for the Olfa U.S. version, in the pics, there is a pic of the back of the package in English, which I took a screenshot of, just in case I needed any directions, but honestly, I didn't needed them yet, but it's still good to have it. For $15.49 this is a bargain. I should've saved myself the aggravation & ordered this Olfa instead of the useless other one. This cutter is very well-made of really sturdy plastic, the blades are extremely sharp, & it just glides through fabrics easily. I got this to use with a skip blade for crochet projects, but I know I'll use this a lot for a so many other things, & it will last a very longtime. It can be used for both right & left-handed people, just switch the side the blade is on. I'm left-handed & it was so simple & quick to change the side that the blade is on. If you're thinking about getting this Olfa 45mm rotary cutter, it's definitely worth the cost, & then add other types of blades as needed. I highly recommend this seller & this tool. Okay, I'm not a seamstress and will be using this to cut wool strips for hand hooked rugs and chair pads. I've made 3 hand hooked rugs and I cut ever single piece of .24" strips of wool by hand using scissors. I started making some chairs pads for dining room chairs and will be hand hooking those. These strips will be bigger 2.5" x .5" but still small strips. I thought after seeing a rotary cutter maybe I could use this for cutting my small strips of wool. I've used this rotary cutter 3 times and it works wonderfully. I researched a lot of cutters and almost purchased a more expensive one just because you think cost more must be better, right? Well, I noticed on YouTube and Yahoo Videos that all the women showing how to cut cloth for quilts were all using this Olfa cutter. Now, common sense told me that these experienced women knew a lot or they wouldn't be teaching classes, running their own businesses, so surely they would be using the best cutter. After using this cutter I agree with them it is definitely worth every cent I paid and I would definitely buy another one if needed. It cuts great and I'm cutting wool. I've used it 3 times and it cut perfectly each and every time unless I didn't do something right. I like the way you lock it into place when you put it away. Never having used a rotary cutter before, I wondered if it would take some getting used to, NOPE, easy as pie to learn to use. My wife bought this Olfa rotary blade to use when cutting fabric for quilting. She is most impressed with the blade's sharpness & comfort when using to cut layers of fabric. The fact that the blade is retractable when NOT in use makes it even more appealing for "safety" purposes! To receive 2 blades and a cutting tool is INCREDIBLE! However, the directions are in Japanese, so if unfamiliar with how to change blades, it will be best to go online to learn the procedure. Read more

This is my second purchase of the Olfa 45mm rotary cutter. I love the fact that the blade retracts and can be locked. This features makes it safer to use when there's curious small children around. I also love that it's ergonomic and easy to handle. This set is also a plus as it includes 2 blades although I had to deduct a star because the blade that was installed in the cutter didn't seem as sharp as it should be. On several occasions it didn't cut through my fabric on the first pass and I had to go over it several times in order to make a cut even though it was just 1 layer of quilting cotton. Despite this, I only deducted 1 star because it did come with 2 blades and I just swapped the dull one out. Read more

I have 3 other name brand rotary cutters and this is by far the best I've ever used. I can use it right or left handed, which is a bonus for me because I'm ambidextrous. I've been using it right and left handed, so I don't have to move the fabric around to cut. My other cutters only cut right handed or I had to change blade position for left handed. It cuts fabric with ease. I love when you let go of the handle the blade automatically retracts. My other ones I have to push a button. It doesn't take much strength or effort to squeeze the handle, which is helpful because of arthritis in my hands. I like that the cutter came with an extra blade so I can switch it out when the blade gets dull. The fact that there was no English instructions was not a problem for me. I've used this rotary cutter on 4 cotton fabric sewing projects so far and the blade is still sharp. I would buy again. Read more
