To be honest I bought this on a whim thinking it was one of those "As seen on tv" type useless items. It gives me great pleasure to say, IT WORKED! I made 4 generous servings of spaghetti in 16 mins. I have an older microwave so next time I will add 30 secs of cook time as I prefer a floppier spaghetti. But the joy of no boiling a pan of water, no having to lift a heavy pan of just boiled water, no having to drain that pan of water and very quick and easy clean up is an absolute winner. Even for someone like me who has a slight hand tremor, this was quick and easy. Read more
I am so glad I saw this on one of my feeds. I love pasta but hate to drag out the big pot and wait 10 minutes for the water to boil and then for the amount of time it takes the pasta to cook...and then having to keep an eye on it so it doesn't boil over (yes, butter on the rim and wooden spoon help) and keep stirring and checking to see if it's done. Now it's fool proof with no mess! Just use the lid to measure serving/s add the water and set the time according to chart provided, microwave, strain using lid provided, add water to rinse, strain again, and perfect pasta! Plus no strainer to clean! Wash and dry in 2 seconds and you're done!!! This might be the go to Christmas present this year!!!🎄🎁 Read more
Cooks Illustrated recommended this American made microwave pasta cooker and, boy, was the magazine right -- this is a fantastic way to make pasta. No need to do a big pot of boiling water, no need to carry it to the sink to pour through a colander and worry about dropping the pot or having it slip. With this, you just measure the pasta using the holes on the lid for 1 or 2 servings (which can double for up to four servings) fill it to the water line, and put it in the microwave. We haven't had under- or overcooked pasta since. You microwave with the lid off then put it on to drain the water out through built in slots. After it's drained, I just add cold water through the measuring holes and drain it again and it's ready. It's quick and easy to clean up and you can, according to the website, make vegetables and other things in it - the plastic-like material it's made out of is safe around food and microwave friendly. I normally (in a big pot) make a whole package of spaghetti noodles but four servings in the Fasta Pasta are about 2/3rds of the package. I wish it was able to hold the entire package. We simply cook the rest of the noodles the next day and add them and we have our beloved leftovers dinner and a couple of lunches, as usual. If there is a larger size, I'll be purchasing it, but this is truly so easy to use that I can't ding it down to four stars. Not having to manhandle the big pot of boiling water has changed our habits, making it easier to have spaghetti and other noodle dishes more often. We almost never made lasagne until now because the noodles were such a pain, but they're much easier with this cooker. There are pretenders made in China - hold out for this American version. The price is great, too. I'm all about ease - easy use, easy clean up, easy storage. The Fasta Pasta has it all. Highly recommended. After quite a bit of use, I'm knocking this down to four stars - it works beautifully, but why can't it hold a whole one pound box of spaghetti? We have to cook the rest of the box as a second load of pasta. And some spaghetti pasta, like Barilla's, are a tiny bit longer than other brands so it doesn't fit quite as well. (I wouldn't take a star off for that because it doesn't harm it, it's just annoying.) Still, even with the size hassle, I'd buy it again. It's that easy to use. Read more
This works surprisingly well, and I have not cooked my pasta in a large pot of boiling water since I purchased it. It is a true time saver and space saver, and I am very pleased with it. I do not use the top draining device which it comes with as I prefer to dump the cooked pasta right into a strainer. I really enjoy this product and highly recommend it. He cooks my pasta perfectly, and I don't have to wait forever for a pot of boiling water to boil. It is a microwaving miracle! Read more
