This towel is great at drying. I don't have a ton of experience with other brand's drying towels, but I don't feel that I will ever need anything better than this one. I feel like I could dry two or three vehicles back-to-back and the towel would still be absorbent. I would say it's worth the money. If you buy this towel, I think there are three important things you should know because this towel requires special care (in my opinion): 1. I highly recommend to never use a drying aid or spray sealant of any kind while using this towel. I used to spray a very fine mist of spray wax before drying to prevent water spots in areas that dried before I got to them. When doing that, this towel became hydrophobic, and I unfortunately could not get the sealant/wax out of the towel despite overnight pre-soaking and hot-washing with rags to riches, 10+ rinses, and even adding vinegar on the last rinse to neutralize any remaining detergent. I think the towel absorbs so well, the sealant will never come out. (The instructions say this also, so it was my bad for not reading them.) 2. Never wash this towel with any other microfibers that were used with any chemicals (waxes, oils, sealants, ceramics, solvents, etc.). I made this mistake on my second 1500, and it became partially hydrophobic from absorbing sealant from another towel. (And never wash with anything non-microfiber or with regular laundry detergent.) 3. Never use too much microfiber detergent. The detergent will also absorb deep into this towel, and it is very difficult to get it out. I used to use Chemical Guys microfiber wash, but now I have switched to rags to riches, as the Chemical Guys stuff seemed to be harder to get out of the towel. I found that I only need 0.5oz of rags to riches to clean this towel in my washing machine (especially since I am not letting the towel contact any waxs or oils, etc.). The detergents can also make the towel partially hydrophobic if there is too much left inside of it. I'm on my third 1500, and it's been going great now that I care for the towel in the right way. I'll edit this review if this third towel becomes hydrophobic for any reason. Read more

I recently picked up The 1500 from The Rag Company, and I have to say, this towel exceeded every expectation. It’s incredibly thick, plush, and ultra-absorbent, making it absolutely perfect for drying my car. One pass across the surface and it pulls in moisture like a sponge, leaving no streaks or water spots behind. What really impressed me is how luxurious it feels. It’s not just a great detailing towel, it’s so soft and effective that I’ve even started using it after my own bath! Just kidding!. The absorbency is top-notch, and the quality is obvious the moment you touch it. If you’re serious about car care or just want a ridiculously nice towel for yourself, The 1500 is 100% worth it. I’ll definitely be buying more. Read more

I really like Rag Company products so far - I have a few of their items. Their clay mitt, clay pads, a couple towels, and now this drying towel. They're all well-made and work exactly as they should. This 1500-density towel is SUPER thick and absorbent and will easily dry off two full passenger cars before needing wringing / drying itself. It's quite soft (and dense) but not "fluffy", and after using my blower quickly, I can then COMPLETELY finish drying my 2021 Honda Accord in less than 3-5 minutes. I'll definitely pick up another should I need one - this thing is VERY nice. PRO-TIP: When washing any microfiber towels: 1) DO NOT USE FABRIC SOFTENER or detergent with fabric softener. Something like Tide Free & Gentle or Dreft is GREAT. 2) You can wash on cold or warm, but avoid hot water over 140F. 3) Add distilled vinegar in with the detergent in place of fabric softener! 4) For drying, air dry or tumble dry on med/low, but NOT high heat. High heat will damage the fibers. DO NOT use a dryer sheet! Follow these tips after each use, and your towels will last a VERY long time and work perfectly every use! Read more

For reference.. I'm coming from an 8 year old, white colored car, to a brand new, dark blue colored vehicle, so I'm having to switch from an automatic machine wash to self/touchless washes to minimize the swirl marks. To add to that, the automatic machine wash I had been going to also provided free drying towels, whereas the other types of car washes, available in my area, did not. This purchase came from a recommendation from pros on a subreddit. Having recently switched from a compact sedan to a crossover, I needed something to expedite my drying time after washing the new, bigger vehicle. Well it certainly does the job quite well. It indeed is a large heavy towel. I typically fold towels into quarters, and one quarter of the towel ought to dry a few body panels at a time well enough. Feels like I'm able to dry the bigger vehicle, maybe even quicker than the free drying towels from the car wash I was using previously. Drying time will be long-ish as expected from such a thick towel. I just lay it out flat in the trunk, and will be dry after a day or two, depending on outside humidity. I've yet to wash this towel and reuse it, but it feels high quality enough that it'll last a while, and maybe even perform better with future drying. Read more
