This Rakiie wrist and thumb brace, which I got in size S/M (the smallest size available), is very well designed. It's among the more flexible, lower profile braces I've tried (and I've tried many, to deal with ongoing pain in my thumb joint). There is just one rigid component - the supporting bar that runs along the side of your thumb and wrist to stabilize them. The rest is a soft, pliable fabric. Because the brace is both thinner/softer and smaller (covering less of the hands and forearm) than my other ones, it allows more movement and is also more comfortable. In theory, I can type with this brace on (albeit without the use of my thumb; more on this below), which isn't feasible with most of my other braces. The brace fits pretty well on my super small hand and wrist. It can be secured tightly around my wrist and palm, but the thumb enclosure is too large, both width and height wise, which hampers my ability to use my thumb. The enclosure basically covers my entire thumb, except the very top. Note that my palm measurement is smaller than the smallest end of the S/M sizing specs on the product listing, so this hopefully will not present an issue for those whose measurements are within the listed specs (I decided to get the brace anyway because I have found many of these braces to run small, and the sizing charts to be inaccurate). My guess is that someone with a larger thumb will have greater use of their thumb with this on, and might even be able to type with it. Quality wise, the brace appears very well made, of high quality materials. It's easy on and off, and even has numbers printed on two of the three adjustment straps to make it as easy as possible to put on. This brace is currently selling for $17, which seems like a great price given the design, construction, and quality. I do wish it came in one size smaller, maybe by offering a separate S vs M size, which might make it perfect for me (and other small-thumbed people). Read more
I work out regularly doing strength training at the gym several times per week using free weights. About a year ago, I started experiencing thumb joint pain when lifting so started using lightweight braces on both hands when working out and it has helped tremendously. I don't normally have discomfort when not at the gym. More recently when in the kitchen, I am finding with specific tasks that I am straining my hands/thumbs so wanted to find something I could wear while working to support my joints, so when at rest, there is little to no discomfort so ordered this brace to try. It is a very solidly constructed item. I am typing as I wear it on my left hand - though the listing indicates in the heading it is for the right hand, it is usable on both. It is easy on and off with markings on the thumb strap (1), the palm strap (2) and finally the wrist strap secures it all. The key to comfort is getting it aligned on your thumb properly and not securing it too tightly in any of the 3 straps. I have a size 8 circumference palm and wear a ladies Large or XL glove as I have long fingers and the S/M fits perfectly with room to spare. I find the brace too thick to type for long periods of time on the computer, so will use my thinner gym braces for typing, but if you have sprained your wrist or thumb, have tendonitis or carpal tunnel, this is an excellent quality, well crafted brace and I can recommend it. Review Of: Wrist & Thumb Brace, Carpal Tunnel Wrist Brace Right Hand for Tendonitis, Sprain, Arthritis, 2 Thumb Strips, Breathable Hand Brace for Men Women Pain Relief, Gray S/M Visit the Rakiie Store At first, I loved everything about this brace. It seems to be well made, comfortable and easy to use on either hand. However, the one feature that it fails on is the strap that goes around the thumb (#3). It is very difficult to tighten that strap, especially one handed. A second pair of hands can help, but even then, my thumb isn't fully mobilized as much as I would like it to be. I have another similar brace and the thumb strap is designed much like strap #2 on this brace, where it uses a loop inside the material to sinch it tight. Other than the thumb strap, I like everything else about this brace. The wrist and mid hand straps are awesome and really snug up well. The material is nice and well stitched. So if you are looking for a brace to completely stabilize your thumb, I would steer away from this brace. However, for carpal tunnel, sprained wrist, other hand injuries, it may be the perfect brace for you. Read more
