These water filters do a great job providing good tasting water. The price is cost effective. We use them all the time to provide good tasting drinking water from our well. They also remove unwanted sediment. Read more
I have not used these filters yet, but from my research I expect them to perform very well. A top-rated under-sink system in CR (American Plumber WLCS-1000) uses Pentek filters, although not this particular one. The WLCS-1000 uses these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0014C3G1I?redirect=true&ref_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_5 I have to question the P1 specs a bit -- 5 gpm and 1 micron is unusual. Typically, filters that flow 5 gpm are 5 micron or larger. Filters rated 1 micron usually flow 0.5 gpm, but this is just a sediment filter so I'm sure it will do much better than 0.5 gpm. I see that a couple online filter retailers list it as a 5 micron filter. The package insert says, "Micron rating: Nominal 1" When I use this filter I will report back, and maybe change my 4 star rating -- hopefully to 5. Unfortunately (for rating purposes) it will be used to filter water going into an RV, so it will be next year sometime before I have a good idea how well it's working. <LATER> EDIT TO ADD: These filters do not seem to significantly reduce the flow from a typical ~5 gpm garden hose used to fill an RV fresh water tank. Flow is of course dependent on pressure, but we added water multiple times on a recent multi-week trip and the flow restriction was minimal. Needless to say, I cannot confirm the 1 micron nominal claim, but Pentek does have a good rep so I imagine it's accurate. Read more
I have been using these filters for my tankless water heater for almost two decades now (since 2008). They have given excellent results in keeping any sediment from entering the actual water heater to cause damage to the elements. The quality and fast shipping from this seller, the Tier 1 Store, have me completely hooked on this filter to avoid costly plumbing repairs! Read more

I use an American Plumber filter before and after the tankless hot water heater to help keep the faucets and shower head cleaner. In the pictures of this product on the label it states it can be used for temps to 170. However, the filter I received has the same numbers but the label doesn't mention the temp capability. Rufus suggests this is just cold water filter and hot water will damage the filter. I worry that it will fall apart and plug my pipes. I'm sending these back and looking elsewhere. It would be nice if the manufacturer would update their product information to accurately describe what their selling. Read more
