Safe pull ups for you and a few friends

Scared of the Youtube videos of people falling on their butts with a door mounted pull up bar? Me too. This unit when up in my basement and I screwed it into floor joists that were 16" on center. Piece of cake to install, and, holy cow, is this thing rugged. You won't ever need another pull up bar in your life time. The only drawback is that the knurling is on the aggressive side so you will see the imprint on your hands after doing pull ups. I don't see this as necessarily bad and I don't find it painful. If it does bother you, you could sand the grip areas down a little and repaint it with some flat black spray paint. Arnold says, no back workout is complete without 50 pulls ups so get your butt in gear one way or another! Read more

Very sturdy. Love the different configurations of hand-holds.

I love everything thing about this pull up bar except for one design flaw. The holes are like 47” apart. If your ceiling joists are 24” on center, or 16” like mine, these holes need to be 48” on center. I could not hang it where I wanted to because of this issue. However, it’s obvious by the included hardware (see picture) that the bar is not designed to be hung from joists with lag bolts and I have no idea why. With the exception of attaching a 2x6 scab to my ceiling, which I didn’t want to do, I could not use the hardware it came with. So I bought the appropriate size and type of lag bolts with flat and lock washers, and screwed it to a solid beam in my garage. The product itself is much higher quality than I expected and deserves 5 stars. But adding a half inch to the length would greatly expand mounting options. Read more

Very sturdy and easy to assemble

I weight 220 and this pull up bar is very sturdy. Not sure why they call this a ceiling mount pull up bar and they do not include lag bolts to mount it. Cement anchors are included. Not a big deal to go to the hardware store to get the lags and washers but I bet 99% of the cement anchors and bolts get thrown away. Read more

Good product, pain install

The product itself: built like a tank and very sturdy. The knurling is perfect imo. It's not like a power bar knurling (aggressive) but also has SOME bite to it. If you're doing kipping pull-ups (and you shouldnt), then this isn't for you. The only negative is just some shotty welding. But if you're buying titan products, this shouldn't be a surprise. I'm giving a 4/5 and not 5/5 because the install was a pain. There are no instructions (included or online) on the proper way to install this and the bolts included dont cover the most common scenario. So you just kind of have to guess based on your situation. But I'm willing to bet 90% of people are installing into a basement or garage ceiling into wood joists. And for that you'll need lag bolts. I used a 4 inch 3/8. I read online that when going into joists you want to use 5/16 and 3/8 max. Since ill be hanging from this i figured id go with the max. Was it the right thing? Dunno. But I've done multiple sets on it and nothing came crashing down. But again, it would be helpful if titan had SOME sort of directions with these. Read more

Failed hardware

After reading other reviews I was aware the ceiling mounting hardware would not work for wood. I sourced lag bolts and washers from the hardware store. Upon assembly the bolts that connect the bar to the ceiling braces failed, stripped with medium force. You need to tighten the bolt/nut enough that the brace slot closes enough to secure the bar, it will wiggle if not tight. I thought I could simply request a replacement and it would be on its way soon. I’ve had to send many emails and pictures now and I’m still waiting. You start off emailing customer service, then you’re told someone else will contact you in 48 hours, then they ask the same questions and you wait for them to apologize and ask more questions, then they request pictures then you wait again. This is easy stuff, the hardware is bad. The bolt will not tighten. I’m sure I’m not the first person to require a replacement. Please send the replacement. Read more

Sturdy bar, must provide own lag screws!

Very sturdy bar. Important to measure before you start drilling if installing in wood beams! We used 1/2 by 2 1/2 lag screws and it worked great. Kind of a pain to install but very happy with it now that it is up and usable! Read more

Complete piece of GARBAGE!

One star only because zero stars is not an option! Apparently absolutely zero quality control with this product/manufacturer. One buys a seemingly quality, somewhat pricey, piece of equipment only to find it CANNOT be assembled. The holes to bolt the horizontal pull-up bar to the vertical support strut do not align (and please don't suggest trying to flip side for side or rotating the vertical 180 degrees because I did) The horizontal bar is not centered on the end bracket and there is not enough clearance to push it over any further to get the holes to align. Additionally like other commenters noted, why are concrete anchor bolts provided?!? Unless one has a concrete ceiling not sure what good concrete anchor bolts are. I assume most people, like myself attach the pull-up bar to wooden ceiling or floor joists. That minor inconvenience was resolved with a trip to the local Home Depot to purchase some bolts and washers but unfortunately I did that before I tried to assemble bar. So disappointed and irritated because now I have to fool around with re-packaging this piece of garbage and sending it back. Read more

Multi Grip pull up bar

Product is solid, one of the better items that Titan makes. The only thing Is you have to get your own lag screws and washers, 4x 1/2” 3-4” long lag screws will work and 4x washers. Read more
