Nice wide toes box that some of the newer models of Topo don’t have. I hike rocky and dirt trails almost every day and love the full foot support, slight cushioning, and great traction these provide. This Topo fits my foot perfectly with good arch support for high arches and narrow enough heel to not slip. The laces have little elastic loops which keep them exactly as you’ve adjusted them. I actually wear them everywhere now and ordered a second pair because I’m afraid this model might not always be available. Runs true to size. Read more
For the past few years I've been wearing Altra Timp's, because of their wide toe box. But after intense use it was time to buy a new pair. I tried on the newest Altra Timp 5 and I noticed they don't have this nice wide toe box anymore. That's when I started doing some research. I read the reviews here for the Topo Ultraventure 4 and someone noted the wide toe box comparable to the Altra's. So I pulled the trigger and bought a pair of the Topo Ultraventure 4's. They are awesome! When I received them, I just had a camping weekend ahead of me, so I brought my new shoes to go hike in. They delivered! I used them the whole weekend without any issues; no blisters, no need to break them in. They are so lightweight too. What I also like is the traction. The soles of my old shoes were worn out and lost their grip. These are grippy! I've had my shoes for about 3 weeks now and last Saturday I walked 32K steps with them without any problems. Besides how comfortable they are, I really like the color combination of the purple and teal, because they are my favorite colors. I usually wear a size 9.5, but for hiking shoes I always size up a bit to make sure I have enough room in the toe box when I go on long hikes and my feet get swollen a bit. So I bought these in size 10 and they are perfect size for me. Read more

LOVE these shoes. I have a wide toe box but "normal" heel size, so these Topos are perfect. Usually when you buy "wide" size shoes, the whole shoe is wide and my heels slip causing blisters/discomfort. But these fit beautifully and the laces are very responsive, so you an adjust as needed. Also, I really like the combination of stability, squishiness and grip of the soles. The Atmos were way tooooooo squishy. I felt like I was walking on a bag of marshmallows, which sounds really comfortable, but instead it felt unstable, like I was not really sure-footed as I was walking (and I also lost my balance at one point and did a total face-plant). These shoes have enough cushioning to absorb your gait, but not so much as to feel unstable. I also like the traction - great for slippery surfaces. All in all, great shoes. Love them. Read more
I bought these after a friend recommended them. I had never heard of Topo shoes before, but I am now a fan! Also bought a pair of Terraventure 4’s. I have always worn a 6.5, but recently with some shoe brands, have had to size up to a 7. Topo 6.5 is a perfect fit for me. The width of the toe box is also perfect. Read more
Topos ultraventure are my favorite shoe for hiking/walking! These are my second pair. I have a large bunion on one foot, flat feet and suffer from plantar fasciitis. Until I started wearing these shoes I didn’t know how it was to walk not just without pain but in absolute comfort! Read more
I owned two pairs of the Topo Ultraventure 3 shoes and while they don't wear as long as other trail running shoes I've worn, I loved them anyway. The wide toe box and 5mm drop were perfect on my achy feet so even though they only came in 3 or 4 colors, I bought a new pair for two years in a row. Then Topo came out with a new model, the Ultraventure 4 and they are NOT the same. This new style (again, only offered in a couple weird colors) seems wider and my feet tend toward over supination which is causing some knee pain and the feeling of instability especially on unlevel surfaces. If you liked the Ultraventure 3, you may not care of this "upgrade." Read more
I have been wearing Topo Athletic Phantom 2 or 3 for some years. The Topo brand was originally suggested by my Podiatrist because of the lower drop and the wider toe (Morton's Neuroma). This year, the Phantom 4 was not a good fit. I decided to check out the Ultraventure 4-- and it's a great fit! The shoe is snug and supportive around the arch and heel and it has the traditional roomy toe area that Topo is known for. This particular shoe also has tread for walking outdoors. I think that will be an added plus for walking my dog on various surfaces and in weather conditions. On top of all that, they're a nice looking shoe! Read more
I bought these, because I loved my Ultraventure 3s and wore them out. I’m not a runner, but need good shoes for everyday use and daily walks. Unfortunately, the Ultraventure 4 shoes are not as comfortable or durable as the prior generation. The shoe does not feel as supportive or comfortable as the 3s—my feet tire more quickly in the 4s. Also, the fabric around the toe area is not holding up well. Usually my toe will wear through mesh fabric on shoes after 9-12 months of use (about 10 months for the Ultraventure 3), and a hole is already starting after just 3 months of light use of the Ultraventure 4 (see photo). I’m really bummed, as I thought I had found a great shoe in the Ultraventure model, but the quality dropped with the Ultraventure 4 and it is not worth the price. Read more
