Quality & Comfort: The build quality on the Tortuga Pro 40L is excellent. I used it for a 7-day trip across mixed conditions, and it held up extremely well. The harness, back panel, and overall comfort level are top-tier for a travel backpack. Even after long airport walks and commuting, the bag never felt tiring. The zipper quality is smooth and premium. Storage & Packing: Capacity is very good, but based on my experience, if a backpack is listed as X liters or X pounds, you’ll realistically end up packing about X–5 lbs comfortably once you factor in clothes, tech, and everyday items. Packing cubes are almost necessary because the bag is designed as a clamshell. A Few Cons I Noticed: Water bottle pocket is small and doesn’t support larger bottles securely. No external D-rings or attachment points, so you can’t easily clip a tripod, neck pillow, or jacket on the outside. Internal clamshell lacks compression straps, so you rely heavily on packing cubes to keep clothes tight and in place. Overall: It’s a fantastic, durable, long-term travel backpack. With a couple of added attachment points and better bottle support, it would be close to perfect. Read more

Storage capacity and compartments are perfect for a two week minimalist packing trip or a month if you use the front compartment for clothing. Its design is definitely well thought out. It also forces to think better on what is essential and what is not necessary for your trip because it is your only bag. It eliminates the need to pay for additional bags and is a easier on security checks and airline bag checks. Just went to NY a week ago and no issues with size on the upper compartment. I use my sling-bag to carry things on the flight without reaching from additional things from my backpack while it is in the upper compartment. I also add a very light weight portable + foldable hiking bag inside the Tortuga for hiking or any local short trips if I am not with the Tortuga bag. It is super comfortable no matter how much stuff is in it and love its dual zip pockets on the side is also for easy reach when on the go or TSA documentation checks. Top quality materials. Excellent travel backpack. Currently backpacking through the Balkans and this pack is mega comfortable and holds too much stuff. I was able to overpack on this trip easily. The zippers close easily and it is very sturdy overall. The pack feels great on my back even weighing over 25lbs and the load lifters are a life saver. Pros: great design and sleek appearance! The most comfortable wearing experience of any bag I've tried. Straps can fit comfortably for a wide range of height and size of people. Weight suspension straps make a noticable difference. Spacious for packing the most in. It does offer limited organization in the front pocket with slots and pen holders also has a small quick access pocket on the top. Greta material choice and minimalist design, zippers work well. Cons: not a lot of organization or separate pockets. The Tortuga 40 liter Back Pack Pro is the way to go. It looks great even when not totally stuffed and is great for necessities medication, cell phone. passport, important documents, two changes of clothes and laptop. It’s much better than my two 15 year old “North Face “Router Transit” backpacks which they do not make anymore. If Tortuga produced some in colors of soft silver, soft bronze (nothing too bright or shiny - most people don’t want to stand out in a crowd, * but love subdued beauty) or the beautiful soft silver blue and soft silver pink which north face created for some of their newer women’s backpacks. The Tortuga Pro would appeal to many more MEN and WOMEN and rise to the top and remain as the best for years to come. I was really impressed with the quality. I took the pack to Alaska where it was wet and drizzly most of the time, and with waterproof zippers, I never had to worry about my stuff getting wet. I also love the layout. Read more
