One word that describes it - "Reliable". This is my preferred brand of external hard drive. It comes well packed and is easy to setup...just plug and play. I also like the fact that it does not heat up when you are transferring data between the Hard Drive and your laptop or computer. Having USB 3.0 helps as data transfer is faster. It also comes with a backup software (NTI) which is simply crappy :), especially the scheduler. Sorry Toshiba..hey but that's a free Software and I didn't buy your hard drive knowing that you have this free Software included. Even if you don't provide the software, your hard drive is still the best. Don't get me wrong people, if you are not very organized (don't file your documents, pictures systematically), this Software will be helpful. On the other hand if you are very organized, you know exactly what to backup and it will be quick without the software. Another thing is the life of the drive. It should last for many years but you need to make sure you don't abuse it and keep it in a reliable case. Also, make sure that it is not the only source of your backup. I keep two back-ups of my critical data. I have posted the unboxing video for this harddrive and case for this harddrive. You can look for the following on youtube: "Unboxing & Usage of Toshiba Canvio Connect II & Amazonbasics external hard drive case". Thanks! 1DoctorGenius Read more

This is a nice little portable drive. It works flawlessly on several different Ubuntu 16 systems, no drivers needed, plug & play. Plugging into the USB port (which I believe is USB 3), I get sustained throughput of about 100 MB / sec. The 2 TB capacity is great and the price is right. Read more

The hard drive itself looks really nice and the light on the corner is cool. It works well with Xbox One and it turns on when the Xbox turns on (some other hard drives don't do that.) Overall it's high quality at an affordable price. Read more

Nice little hard drive that works as extra storage for my PS4. Took one star away as this thing is a dust magnet and although it is a very pretty looking little storage device, it doesn't take much dust at all to make it look off. When the dust gets on it, it almost looks like I spilled a drink or something. I simply dust it off whenever I'm by it. I guess what I'm saying is that I'd recommend the device, but if I had it to do over again I'd probably go black instead of blue. Read more

I purchased this drive to backup files from my drone business. It does recognize the USB 3.0 and has a pretty impressive speed. This is my second one of these for the brand but the first one of this size. The previous one I purchased was one terabyteperiod I have been using it for a little over a year and carrying it in a duffel bag daily. It has given me no problem at all. So far this one is working flawlessly as well. Read more

This compact 2TB hard drive is quite portable. I fit it easily into a jacket pocket. it copies the files on my computer quickly and almost imperceptibly. I had an older portable hard drive that slowed down my computer whenever it was working. I haven't noticed this hard drive doing that. Also, I've backed up both my desktop and laptop and can move files from one to the other with little difficulty. My previous hard drive made it a chore to transfer files. Read more

So far all is good. Uploaded 54 gig of 8mm film controverted tp digital in 8 min. appeared to be 110-120mbps while watching Thursday night football with Amazon... IIII like it! Using my HP Pav 17 notebook with an SSD HD. Not sure if that makes a difference but I would guess it does. 14 gig of photos, less than 3 min. Positives No external power cord USB 3.0/2.0 right color option for me Cable included Price is right $84 + Taxes...Boo! We all pay enough! I'm a vet. Most portable (size) unsure of actual durability...will update accordingly. Very quiet I am not an expert but what I have read if a SSD is not always active it will deteriorate slowly. No article defined slowly but experience taught me if you do not care for your HDD it will fail. You decide. I will keep you posted on longevity. Read more

The drive works but there is a fee for cloud storage which is the default storage when you start the saving process. Read more
