The mechanism makes it a little heavy but not too much. It fit perfect in my wife's on the go purse and it has withstand some speedy winds when took to the beach. Once, in a florida heavy downpour with some wind it flipped over but the structure resisted. So I think it delivers. Off course it is a small umbrella so it wont cover much if windy or side raining but it have worked like a charm to this day and we are happy with it. Read more

I purchased this umbrella to fit into my "man-bag" for a trip to Europe. I needed something under 8" in length and this fit the bill. It was also one of the few automatic umbrellas in this size range. Light, small and easy to carry. Sure enough...we got caught in a rain-storm and this little umbrella did the trick. It's an okay umbrella. I've used it in the rain and in the sun. It keeps the rains and sun off. The main thing I dislike about this umbrella, though, is that it's really hard to get the velcro thing around the umbrella when I'm trying to close it. This umbrella is of a slightly stiffer material than a regular umbrella and it's slightly bulkier. The velcro thing that holds it together when closed is not quite long enough to close it easily. I have to tug and tug and tug and tug, and still I can barely get it closed. This is more than annoying; it hurts my hands and it also takes too long when I'm in a hurry. Read more
I rarely leave reviews. I bought this umbrella for a vacation. After only one use, it broke. The metal is very weak and the umbrella totally bent out of shape from a slight amount of wind. It's also very hard to open but I would have lived with that. By the time I returned from vacation it was too late to return it for a refund. I was offered the option of a new umbrella. Why would I want another one? I would rate it zero if I could. Totes brand is not what it used to be! Read more
