This is a well priced, nice looking, very soft and warm crew style sock that's medium weight. The sock bed is nicely cushioned and your foot will be very comfortable. That's the good news, this, for me, is the bad: If you have trouble with socks that have a relatively tight elastic band at the top that make an actual depression in the leg, this may not be the sock for you. This REALLY is a nice sock, but it's fairly tight at the top, so the only way I could wear it was to make a V cut in the band at the top, and whip stitch it to keep it from unravelling; and this seems to have solved the issue for me. It isn't their fault I have difficulty with tight sock banding, so, IMHO, this is a 5 star sock. I don't know how it will wear, pill, etc., and will update this. Update: I should note that I don't have thick ankles or area below the calf; the socks still left a sizeable depression in the skin, so in a last resort method, I boiled the socks for 15 minutes, stretched them over a coffee can, and let them dry. They still had the same problem even after this extreme treatment. I then bought a new pair one size larger, and the same problem (no treatment). These are nice socks, but due to the excessive elastic pressure, they're not for me, and the new ones will be returned. The stars have been adjusted to reflect this. Unless they're graduated compression socks, they don't need this sort of elastic tightness to remain in place. Update 2: I ordered Warrior outdoor alpaca socks in large. They are midweight, and have a wide cuff that has just enough elastic to keep them up, but are very comfortable and do not leave indentations in my skin. If you prefer tighter socks, then the ones in the original review are for you, but if you prefer a more relaxed fit, then IMHO the Warrior is a better choice. I should note that in my case, these are not for hiking, or the like, but for general use around the house, or out and about. I hope this now excessively long review helps you. Read more

Great alpaca socks with a cushioned bottom to soothe and keep the feet warm, quite functional under boots or with slippers. I am a size 6.5 in footwear, but if wearing a sock like this I would get a size 7 slipper, shoe, or boot. The socks are durable after multiple washes (turn them inside out for laundering). They're thick without being campfire sock bulky. They don't pill or fall apart and for alpaca socks they are an excellent value for the money. Read more
