I have absolutely nothing but love for these external drives. This was my first external drive of a size larger than 500GB. I have never ever had THIS much space, and it is absolutely changing my life! If you are looking for a drive, get this one! It is competitively priced and has the wonderful feature of "it probably wouldn't die if you chucked it out your window right this second!" The rubber case has saved me a couple times already on dropping. I feel secure and assured that my drive can survive my clumsiness and day-to-day accidents. I really like that it only needs one USB cable, as I found drives with a USB AND Power cable to be bulky and harder to transport. Luckily, I have a lot of really nice, fast USB ports that are capable of powering it with just one cord. I'm recommending this model to everybody that I know with storage or archival needs. I bought this for external storage for my Xbox one. It is not a 7200 RPM drive, but it works just fine. I think the price was awesome, and it looks pretty cool as well. Update: 12/29/2015 - After using this for a few days, it seems not to work well with my Xbox One after all. Any games I had running off of it would freeze for about 10 seconds randomly. I moved the games back to internal, and have not had an issue since. I do want people to know this is a great product, and maybe it is something else, but I have a brand new Xbox One and it works just fine without it. Hands down, this is the best external HDD I have EVER owned. I've owned the 1TB version for over 2 years, and I loved it so much I bought the 2TB version a little less than a year ago. Both of them are still working flawlessly. This is especially impressive when you consider the amount of abuse my drives have been through. I took my 1TB with me on deployment to the Middle East, it was constantly exposed to 120+ degree temperatures, sand, drops, bangs etc, and even once left it out in a backpack that got rained on. All of this, and I have had absolutely ZERO issues with it! I'm simply amazed that the drive has withstood all this. -The USB 3.0 speed is quick, though I haven't done an actual speed test so I can't give you an accurate number. -One comment I will add, the 1TB version comes with a 3-port cable (strangely the 2TB is a standard 2-port). I've seen people complaining about it, I assure you that it works fine with only one plugged in, I have never once used the extra cord. The extra USB cord is for added power (which would only be necessary on very old, underpowered laptops). So it's a non-issue. Read more

This is magnificent & sooo WONDERFUL external drive to use with the Chinese Video capture cards!! "Most importantly" I connected this SPECTACULAR external hard drive with my video capture card and I kept recording stuff from my satellite receiver, movies, TV soaps, TV shows and I SWEAR this external hard drive NEVER heated and NEVER get warm even!!!! I hate it when the external hard drive becomes hot after prolonged period of usage and here in Saudi Arabia the temperature is very high, but this BABY doesn't heat or become hot even after hours & hours hours & hours hours & hours hours & hours of usage and I touched the surface it's just sooo normal!!! The design is VERY GOOOD and it's durable and very good quality and transfers data VERY FAST to my laptop and life became easier with the button on top that connects it to PC if accidentally removed!! UPDATE: Still working fantastically after 6 years of usage. This drive is a powerhouse and I have had nothing but a great experience with this drive. Its traveled with me across the country dozens of times and has always been a trusty external drive. Strongly Recommend. Arrived quickly and as advertised. Build is strong and has a nice no-slip case on the exterior. Re-connect button is useful and at 2TB, its an excellent travel drive. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a sturdy backup or external multimedia drive. USB 3.0 too, although I cannot take advantage of it since my Macbook Pro (2011) is only 2.0 capable :( Read more

I must confess, I have no tried to actually drop this thing. I bought it as an external backup drive for my QNAP TS-231 device. That much it has definitely accomplished. So far, the drive works flawlessly. I have not used the backup button the device nor any of the included software, so I can't speak on that, but as a plain old hard drive, I can't complain. I have definitely had many external drives in the past, and they have all failed at some point. I don't expect this to last forever, but the majority of drive failures are due to being moved around, bumped, or *gasp dropped in some fashion. I never takes much to put an external drive out of commission. It should be interesting to see how long this one lasts. So far so good. Read more
