Had a bad onboard NIC so I used this adapter to get me reconnected. The adapter itself is plug and play but in my case (and probably many others), it doesn't give the full bandwidth as the drivers are generic and it uses a special controller. I have 1gbps at the house but was pulling about 350mbps. Go to your hardware manager and type in the device name in google and download the appropriate driver. My device name was (ASIX AX88179A) The website where I got the driver was from asix.com.tw. After I updated the driver, I'm pulling down the correct speeds so it's working for now. Read more

I had no idea that ethernet could run over regular USB. I always thought it had to run over a thunderbolt dock. This device proves me wrong. there is nothing to install.... just plug it in and let it work. Read more

Works perfectly on my Linux laptop w/USB A 3.2 port. I have a 1 Gbps network and testing showed no loss of bandwidth through the adapter. Consistently achieving >900 Mbps at the laptop. Great product! Read more

I have a Windows 11 Dell Laptop. The install was not "plug and play" as advertised. I had to manually install the ASX network driver that was on the device itself (no CD) and my TotalAV virus program thought it was malware, so I had to manually put that setup .exe in the allow list of TotalAV before it could be installed. You have to look in File Manager to see the install program after plugging the adapter in. There are no installation instructions at all in the box. Once installed, it runs great, but the documentation leaves a lot to be desired. I have 1 Gig internet, and am getting 800-900 Mbps download speed (each test varies a little) on the laptop as measured by Speedtest. Note: Get the actual Speedtest app for your PC. If you run it through a browser, speeds will be lower, as the browser itself uses bandwidth. Running the same Speedtest test through my Google Chrome browser only returned a speed of 385 Mbps. Quite a difference. Read more
