It's made with silicone so it is soft to the touch It does work well, however, the connection from the handle to the head is very flexible. This is a powerful little device that is well made. The outside covering is smooth silicone for comfort. It has 6 different vibration patterns to suit your needs and 3 different speeds. It's easy to use and recharges by USB cord which is included. I appreciate it being rechargeable; no more batteries! When the power is on there is a little light that lights up the button so you know it's on. The head of the device is flexible, which I'm not really sure why they made it that way, because when I need to massage a tension knot that occurs in my neck or back of my shoulder occasionally, it doesn't apply enough pressure with it being flexible.
