Besides the PurpleZen, I also bought the MintZen for my boyfirend. Compared to the purple pillow, this MinZen is on the firmer side, you can really feel the extra support when you lie on it. It has a pillow wrap that covers the memory foam, adding both firmness and comfort. It's also super easy to maintain. I just toss the wrap into the washing machine, and it's done. Picked this up to go along with my cooling blanket and pillowcases for a not waking up at 3 AM due to night sweats sleep. Unfortunately, this did not deliver. I honestly did not feel any cooling effect beyond a normal pillow with this. Not sure where the Ice is in the Zen, but this pillow did not have it. I had more cooling effect with the pillowcase in the photos than the pillow itself. Ultra firm is almost an understatement. This pillow is a comfortable brick under your head. It barely gives with any head movement and was difficult to fall asleep on for me. Without a pillowcase, this does not move on the bed. That may be a pro or con depending on how you sleep, but I like my pillow to move with me as I adjust positions throughout the night. This has a firm grip on the sheets unless you cover it with a smooth pillowcase. Due to the ultra-firmness of the pillow, getting a pillowcase on here can be a chore. Note the picture with the pillowcase halfway mounted. If you like a firm pillow, this serves it up and then some. As far as cooling goes, it is negligible to non-existent with this pillow. I was not impressed in the slightest and do not recommend this unless you are a 15th century torture specialist with the Spanish Inquisition. Read more
