Love the Vicks Brand, this steam vaporizer is perfect to use when you need some moisture and steam in the air. I never go without having one of these every year. Easy to clean, works for years, better than the cool mist machines in my opinion. Loosen up stuffy noses and coughs. You must keep this up high on a safe flat surface if you have children who climb and possibly touching the steam and getting burned. The water inside is extremely hot to produce the steam. The outer parts feel warm but won't burn you, only if it gets knocked over and water comes out. Best vaporizer by far by a trusted brand. Read more
Easy to clean. The manual recommends tap water, and adding a pinch of salt if it’s not steaming, which we do. We rinse and fill it twice a day for a 2 bedroom apartment with electric heat in Wisconsin. Very dry conditions and this product works great! Read more
I bought this 1.5 gal vicks vaporizer last year. Ok with noise and heat. I tried using Vicks vaporizer pads in slots. Two days no vaporizer smell and padsnot dissolving. So I added vaporizer to tray. That works great. I hope vicks will respond because I just ordered a second unit for bedroom for winter. Thanks. Value wise best one yet. Read more
They produce hot steam, and you can put the extra vapo-steam menthol liquid in the water if you want to clear you sinuses. This vaporizer takes static out of the air and plumps up your skin. Especially important in winter when it's dry from artificial heat. I would not be caught without one of these. They last for years. I bought this one as a gift for a friend- not very glam, but it's just a must-have, and it's easy & lightweight to take anywhere (when empty, of course). If you live somewhere with hard water (like southern California)- please try to use distilled or at least filtered water in this. With hard water, you will see plack crusty buildup in the container when you goto change or add more water. That can clog the steam recepticale, so try to get it all out. If it does get clogged & stops steaming well, a pinch of salt in the water will get it going! Read more
I had terrible nasal congestion, noticed low humidity in my house. Barely 30%. Dug out old fashioned steamer. 40% and everything was wonderful. Unfortunately, 30 year old steam croaked. Visks make this wonderful replacement. Salt is the key. I have no idea why. I'm doing the recommended 1/8 teaspoon, in a unconfined 300 ft room and it does better than 40%? You'll start steaming up the windows. More salt, it will go 50%, but after that, you start to take the paint off the walls! No filter or seal to mess with, so easy-peasy. It's just a bucket with a heating element. Simply plug it in! I've been using it for about 2 weeks, it's real darn steady. Real quiet now, I sometimes check to make sure it's on. Does 12-15 hours easily. Salt makes it quite adjustable. It will go Volcano with enough salt. One more should cover most of the house? A simple solution for little money. Read more
Product works great at first. It says it last hours but it really only works for 4 hours. Even if you add salt like the directions say. After awhile it stops producing the vapor. Tried multiple times using more salt, or adding more salt in after a few hours. Read more
I picked up the Vicks Warm Steam Vaporizer (1.5 Gallon model with night light) mainly for my kid's room during cold season, and overall it's been a solid help for congestion and dry air. The warm mist really soothes coughs and stuffy noses better than cool mist options in my experience, and it's great that it works with VapoPads and VapoSteam for that extra menthol boost—those make a noticeable difference in breathing easier at night. The large tank lasts a good 12-18 hours (depending on how dry the room is), the auto shut-off is reliable when it runs low, and the built-in night light is a nice touch for checking on little ones without turning on bright lights. That said, it's not perfect. The unit can get noisy—it sounds like a low boil or gurgling kettle at times, especially when it's heating up or if minerals build up, which can be distracting in a quiet bedroom (I've gotten used to it, but it took a few nights). Also, it feels pretty cheaply built—the plastic is lightweight and basic, the tank can discolor over time, and it requires occasional salt additions for consistent steam if your water is soft, which is a minor hassle. For the price, though, it delivers where it counts: effective warm moisture, easy to fill/clean (wide opening helps), no filters to replace, and it does the job for small to medium rooms without overcomplicating things. If you're okay with a bit of background noise and don't expect premium build quality, it's a worthwhile buy for baby/kid rooms or anyone dealing with winter dryness. I'd grab it again if needed.
