I have limited dexterity in both hands. I found the Victorinox Pocket Sharpener easier to use than any other sharpener for sak knives, and other similar knives with a flat ground blade. The 'V' ceramic part of the sharpener worked the best in removing all the burrs. Secondly, the long portion of the grit was used. I experimented with doing the opposite on the first knife, but had far better results reversing the assumed directions. My Tinker is sharp enough, though I intend to see what (leather) stropping each knife does. A handy-sized sharpener that works well and quickly. These pocket sharpeners last, reviews state. By snapping the handle in the two intended positions, I found this Sharpener to be the best for pocket knives, cooking knives, and other applications that do not require sharpening at a recommended angle. (i.e., 25, 30, or 35 degree angle). The grip is excellent. Read more

Ha ha! After getting many other mini sharpener I find out Victorinox makes one. So of course my SAK needed one. And it's a good one! Slim so it fits in ur pocket easily. Blades perform well, stay covered (huge plus) and it's lightweight. It's made so u don't need a surface like a pull through pocket sharpener. Use it like a file. Completes a nice little swiss army knife edc- knife, fire ant (mini ferro rod), helix tinder and sharpener. So i had this a few months. I like to test things not just un box. The price has doubled on here ( Amazon) since I bought mine. Bad bad. Read more

Easy to use with a little practice. Works well on Victorinox blades as well as most other blades. The "channel" down the middle is for sharpening fishing hooks. Unlike most sharpeners, with this one, you use the blue stone part to do the majority of the sharpening and then use the V-notch part on the top to finish. Other sharpeners want you to drag the blade through the V-notch part first. This sharpener has a much better design than those and that is what allows you to use this one in this sequence. It is a great size and weight. It is very portable and not heavy at all. It is built very well. The cover caps protect it and can even be used as a handle while sharpening. For the price, it is absolutely unbeatable. Read more

So I am an avid knife sharpener. I have expensive sharpening systems and know how to freehand sharpen. I wanted something to be able to take out in the field with me to touch up blades while field dressing. I took one of my benchmades and dulled it on purpose to see how well this would sharpen. This brought back a dull blade that wasnt able to cut paper to a blade that was able to slice through paper fairly easy. Its not something you buy to get your blades razor sharp but it works fine for getting a sharper edge on a dull knife in a pinch. Theres a ton of youtube videos out there proving the "V" notch does nothing to sharpen blades. It would have been better if there was just a ceramic rod on one side instead of the ceramic V. So I took one star away. The correct way to use this is to hold the rod at a 25ish degree angle on a table and slide the knife straight down as if you're trying to cut the sharpening stone. Maybe 30 passes each side and repeat. Then light passes alternating sides to remove the burr. You can slide the knife through the ceramic notch to pull off any loose burrs but it wont sharpen the edge any further. Read more

Nice and compact, and actually sharpens blades well! Will this replace my normal sharpening routine? No, but this will work great in the field for touchups and emergencies. Plus it's so small that you can throw it into your pocket or pack and not know it's there Read more

Great piece of kit to quickly sharpen and give your knife a decent working edge. Biggest advantage is the size. With the thickness of two pencils side by side, and length slightly longer than a regular pen, this is easy to carry and add to any tool bag. Was easy to give my spyderco with vg10 steel to paper slicing sharpness. Would still recommend to strop after, but even without stropping it still gave it paper slicing sharpness. If it can sharpen vg10, it’ll definitely sharpen victorinox sak steel. Be aware this is with a knife that wasn’t super dull. For really abused knives you’d probably need a more robust knife sharpening system. But for edges that just need a quick touch up this has been a great tool. Quick tip: use the area of plastic where the ceramic stone is attached for a quick edge angle guide! Read more

Great value for the money, super convenient to throw in my bag with my Swiss Champ. If you're looking for a high end sharpener that will put an edge on your knife akin to that of an ancient samurai sword, this isn't the sharpener for you. However, if you want a nice, inexpensive, portable sharpener that can put a solid edge on your workhorse/EDC Swiss Army Knife, this is the one. Read more

This is a nice sharpener but but at the price of $40.00 common sense should take over as we all laugh our way to something better for that price like a Work Sharp Field Sharpener which is over priced as well but with much more to offer than this Swiss stick it to ya.. Should these step back into reality price wise I would highly recommend this sharpener. Read more
