The Champ
So, it's not going to replace my Leatherman (I hate nail nicks) but I love Swiss Army Knives and always have. The Swiss Champ is, as everyone suspects when they're 10, among the coolest models. I don't find it unwieldy or as awkward as I thought it would have been. Nothing locks, but there is some half-step friction in several tools (the drivers, for instance, are less likely to snap closed on you than on other models). Each tool has a ton of possibility to it. The fish scaler, for instance, is an incredible back scratcher. The magnifying glass, which I've seen a lot of reviews declare useless, is super handy. SAK's are inherently high on novelty and high on function. Not sure Victorinox has ever made a model that hits those two points quite as perfectly as the Swiss Champ. Read more
