This is a review of “VOLOOM Very Airy Volumizing Hair Powder - Lightweight Volume & Styling Spray for Weightless Texture & Grip - Hair Volumizer Products for Roots with Aloe Leaf & Coconut Oil.” I used this powder this morning (2nd day after a shampoo). I expected it to texturize and act like a dry shampoo. I lifted some hair from the top of my scalp and puffed underneath to add volume. I did this on the other side of my hair as well. The puff left a lot of white powder. This is normally not a big deal with a dry shampoo because I just rub it in until the white disappears. I was so surprised to discover that I couldn’t rub the white powder in because my hair had turned to a sticky, waxy mess. I even tried to comb through the area, but the residue from this powder was so thick, waxy, and sticky that I struggled to pull a brush through it. I tried wiping off the white powder, but after all my efforts, I ended up going to work with a whitish spot that was better, but not fully corrected. I came right home after work and washed the product out of my hair. Because all my hair was glued in place once I used the powder, I wouldn’t recommend using it unless you’ve fully styled your hair. Make sure you only use it in a place that won’t be seen (so the white powder isn’t noticeable). I would use the powder as lightly as possible. I did like the “puff” style of the applicator. Update to 4 stars 8/25: - Because some reviewers were having a vastly different experience that I had with this powder, I decided to give it another chance. I dispensed several puffs of the powder into my hands and then cleaned the product off of my hands. I discovered, in this process, that the powder became less sticky/waxy the more I puffed. After 4-6 puffs, the terrible stickiness lessened significantly. I tried the powder again on my hair today - following the same process I used previously. This time my hair was more pliable after puffing and there was less white powder stuck everywhere. There was still a little stickiness, but it was much more manageable. I'm not sure it gave me much more lift, but it did resemble other dry shampoo products. So my recommendation is to NOT use the first several puffs of this powder. Spray 10+ puffs into your hand or into the sink until the stickiness reduces. The product is much better once you get past the extreme stickiness/waxiness that is characteristic of the first many puffs. Read more
This volumizing hair powder gets three stars from me because it adds decent lift to my fine limp hair but falls a bit short on staying power. I sprinkle it at my roots on dry hair and it gives that instant thickness and texture I crave making my ponytail look fuller for morning errands. It works best when I massage it through for separation but by afternoon the volume starts fading especially on humid days and the hold is weak then. I also find it a bit sticky after a few hours. I like the natural movement it creates though it never quite matches the all day hold I hoped for. Read more

With respect, I think a lot of the more negative reviews regarding this product are from individuals who have not used a product like this before and do not understand the intention of the product. This is not a dry shampoo. This is a product that provides lift and volume to hair in a very serious way. It's a styling product. I've used similar products that were more like a shaker and I appreciate that the pump makes this easier to apply. This isn't something you'll want to put on TOP of your hair. You'd want to apply this on the underside of where you'd like there to be volume in your hair and then lightly rub or brush it in. If you tease your hair on top of this product, the volume will be really, really strong. This product works as designed and provides great lift. Yes, your hair will feel differently with the product on. That's the nature of a product like this. It does not make for touchable hair, but your hair will look more voluminous and full upon proper use. Read more
Works great as a volumizing hair product, and with that said, I noticed in another review they thought it would work the same as a dry shampoo - repeat after me, it is NOT the same as a dry shampoo - this is more of a styling product that will hold your hair in place as well. I have thick hair and really don't have the need to add volume unless I am between shampoos and it's day two after a shampoo. It works great, holds my hair in place for the most part. Read more
I’m obsessed with this volumizing powder! It gives my roots instant lift and texture without feeling heavy or sticky. The lightweight formula with aloe leaf and coconut oil keeps my hair feeling soft, not dry. Perfect for adding grip and volume on days I skip washing. A total game-changer for fine hair! Read more
This volumizing powder spray works well if you want a quick boost without spending a lot of time with a round brush and blow dryer. The aerosol format makes application much easier than shaking loose powder directly onto your scalp, so you just just spray, work it in with your fingertips, and you’ll notice subtle lift. A little goes a long way, and sectioning your hair as you apply gives the best results. The volume is more natural than dramatic. it won’t replace a full heat-styling session with rollers, but it does hold up well throughout the day and even in humid weather. The downside for me was that, while my hair didn’t look oily, it felt dirty and gritty to the touch after using it. That sticky, powdery texture is pretty typical with aerosol products, but it’s worth noting if you’re sensitive to how your hair feels. Pros: Easy aerosol application compared to loose powder Subtle, natural-looking volume Holds up in humidity Only need a small amount per use Cons: Hair feels dirty/gritty after use Less dramatic lift compared to heat styling Can feel crunchy if not worked in properly THoughts: If you’re looking for a quick, lower-effort way to add natural-looking volume, this spray is effective. Just be prepared for some texture buildup that may make your hair feel less clean. Read more
