Before you buy this fixture you should read the warning printed on the box: “CAUTION: RISK OF FIRE. MOST HOMES BUILT BEFORE 1985 HAVE SUPPLY WIRES RATED FOR 60 DEGREES CELSIUS. PLEASE CONSULT AN ELECTRICIAN BEFORE INSTALLING.” It also says “MIN 75 DEGREE CELCIUS SUPPLY CONDUCTORS.” My place was built around 1985, however I use only LED bulbs. Even 3x 100 watt equivalent LED bulbs still use less than 60 watts of actual power and should be fine on any residential circuit. However, I should say, that if some poor unsuspecting person installs 3 incandescent bulbs in the fixture then you could have a serious safety issue. I’m not an electrician, proceed at your own risk. While we are talking about questionable advice from a nameless person online… I wanted even more light than 3x 60 watt equivalent LED bulbs could provide. I wanted to install 100 watt equivalent LEDs. However, this fixture is built for standard A19 bulbs but my 100 watt bulbs are the larger A21 size. With the larger bulbs installed the shade would not fit back onto the light. I was able to straighten out the mounting bracket with a pair of pliers such that my A21 bulbs fit. It’s a bit finicky, but it works, and now I have about 5 or 6 times more light than the single 60watt incandescent. I bought this product because it was the cheapest 3 bulb non-enclosed ceiling fixture I could find. My apartment’s main room had a single bulb fixture and it was just not enough light for the room. Replacing it with this fixture allowed me to triple the amount of light. I was pleased enough with it that I bought another one to replace the fixture with hard to find bulbs in my kitchen. As long as you turn off the breakers and double check the circuit with a touchless voltage tester it is very simple to install. A note about price: I paid $20 for this at a big-box home improvement retailer and $25 at Amazon. I only used Amazon the second time because I was in a hurry and they could deliver faster. I wouldn’t pay more than $20 for this fixture again, it’s only unique selling point is price. I would also like to make note of just how much I prefer open fixtures to enclosed fixtures. LEDs in enclosed fixtures get very hot and it massively decreases their life. I have had LEDs in enclosed fixtures die in under a year, I haven’t had one die in an open fixture ever. It comes with a mounting bracket (see my images) but I was able to use the existing brackets already installed in my ceiling. My only gripe with this light is about the plastic nut that hold the shade onto the lamp. It would have cost less than a nickel to make this a metal nut, but they went with a very soft plastic. This means that it is easy to cross-thread the nut and doing so will ruin it permanently. I don’t love the idea of such a flimsy component holding a heavy piece of glass above my living room. It’s probably silly, but I really do think they should have made this a metal part. This is the reason I have deducted a star. All in all I like this fixture, I own two and they both work great. Perfect for Hall way lighting. Lights up just enough and not blinding. Easy to install. Looks classic. My old "standrard" hall lights made it hard to even see in the linen closet, but this is bright enough it lights the 1st floor without being too loud on the eyes. Looks pretty- I am happy. Read more

I bought this fixture a couple of years ago to replace one that was threatening to fail. Well, it took two years for the threat to materialize. So I took down the old fixture and put up the new one. Everything went well until it came time to put on the shade. The final (the threaded thing that actually holds the shade) was made of soft white plastic. The first attempt to secure it resulted in mangling the threads. After a number of attempts, I though I had it secured. I let go of the final and shade to examine my work. The final and fragile glass shade immediately fell, with the shade hitting the top of my ladder and showing my computer work area with hundreds of glass fragments. It took longer to clean up the mess than it had to install the fixture. Saving money by using a plastic final: $0.05 (max). Ruining your reputation: priceless. Read more

I was attracted by the silver ring around the fixture and the flush mount to the ceiling as the photo suggested, neither are features of this product. Instead it has a plain, frosted glass shade. Once mounted the glass shade will not be flush with the ceiling, instead there is a 3 inch gap. The product is manufactured very economically and OK for the price. It does accommodate 3 bulbs, so it can be very bright depending on the lumens of the bulbs used times three. Read more
