Warm, but thicker than helmet liners I’m used to wearing.
I was a bit surprised when I unpacked these skull caps as they are a bit thicker than the helmet liners I’m used to. When I wear these skull caps under my cycling helmet, it does balance a bit high on my head. I see the material is 100% polyester, while the liners I generally wear are a polyester and spandex mix, which probably explains the difference in thickness. That said, the fleece feels quite comfortable against the skin. I took one of the skull caps out for a test run. I dressed appropriately for the day, a thin under layer beneath a long sleeved cycling jersey and the skull cap beneath my helmet. My upper body was initially a bit chilled, although I warmed up quickly enough. My head was warm from start to finish. My helmet, when I looked in the mirror, did seem to ride a bit high, but on the road it felt firmly in place. The fleece was right on the edge of being too warm for this particular day, and I think that normally chosen a somewhat thinner liner. On a colder day, however, the fleece would have been my choice. I think this fleece skull cap will be perfect for a cold winter’s day jog. Read more
