I love the water dispenser on my fridge. It gets a LOT of use. Heck in the hard water area we're in we even filter the water before we put it into the drip coffee maker and that tank has a filter on it too. What I don't love, is the exorbitant price the manufacturer charges for the OEM filter cartridge. Generally wary of using non oem parts, especially for applications like this, the price finally got me to try these. Now we're on our third order. There really isn't a detectable smell, or specific taste and this feels like it lasts as long (if not longer) than the brand version. We always replace it when the built in fridge timer goes off so I can't speak to how it lasts if you push it. We do make sure we follow the Herculean installation instructions every time, because with previous filters (both named brand and otherwise) we've found that if you don't there *is* a taste or smell to it for the first few days or weeks. Incredibly easy to install, this pops right in. Other versions we've used haven't felt like the best fit but no issues with this product. Maybe one day I'll run a water quality test but for now the fact we're all still here months later is good enough. Read more
