This is a great hard drive, I use it on my gaming rig, it spines at 7200rpm so u can’t go wrong with this hard drive, the performance is nice and solid, it’s very fast, stable and quite, and it’s sold here on amazon for a great price, I’m a IT professional and I also use it for business tasks, this hard drive is great for any task like storing data to watching movies and excessing all your files with flawless performance, I highly recommend this hard drive. I ordered two of these drives, and of the two, one failed. It seems the spindle became dislodged judging by the grinding sound when I turned it on. The shipping box was practically thrown to my front door. To be honest, I would purchase spinning drives at a brick-and-mortar store where you run one less risk of damage in transit (which is probably the biggest killer of drives). However, Amazon has an amazing RMA system, so here's hoping the new drive I receive is just as great as the working one I already own. The working drive works great. Nice transfer speeds for a spinner, and runs quietly. Read more

Package was several days late. Was wrapped up really nice in Bubble Wrap but was only inside of a Paper Envelope. Ordered a 250GB Drive but received a 500GB drive which is probably great for some people. The problem is, I ordered 250GB for a reason, because larger Drives are less reliable -- that's just a fact. The sweet spot is 250GB, once you get to 1TB and higher the failure rate goes up. Thankfully the Drive was New inside an anti-static bag and worked without any hassle. I can't say the same about the SSD this replaced, SSD's are a hassle to set up and have issues with Motherboards that are just a few years old. SSD's are still too unreliable unfortunately. Read more

Now this is a hard drive worth buying. It reminds me of the good old days when hard drives were made with quality and the drive would boot up into Windows with no problems. So far I am very pleased that this drive lasted for 2 months without any incident(s) of drive failure(s). I bought this drive to replace after having to replace 6 Seagate Hardrives - all failed with different problems and was very much surprised that Seagate would do nothing about replacing them. From now on, I will be buying Western Digital Drives for my systems. Read more

Western Digital is the Most Reliable Drive that I know of. So why was mine DOA? Too bad I can't bill Amazon for the time I lost on this one. Read more

This drive is very fast, and well done with a 16 MB directory. I am using it with Linux Mint and Linux Xubuntu and they are as fast as Windows if not faster. But using it with Windows 8 is also a pleasant experience. Put it in a machine that handles SATA III with USB 3 and you don't have to wait a while to get the work done. The size of the disk is not excessive, and I am in Linux Mint with 27Gigs being used. So there is plenty of room to add storage, photos.. whatever. If you have a good wipe disk program, make sure you wipe it before you use it and while that isn't really required, it is good practice. Very good drive. Read more

This an older drive and I was worried about what I would get. I use a raid 5 network device to store backup copies of my important data. The 3rd drive in the RAID array failed, which was the same make and model of the drive I am reviewing, and I was running the RAID array in degraded mode which made me motivated to resolve the issue. The drive was pristine when I received it, perfectly packaged and delivered. It was the exact model needed. I dropped it into my RAID device and hit the rebuild function, sometime later, I was back in business. Sounds like a simple transaction, but it has been my experience that many things can go wrong with spinning disk technology. Great job. Read more
