As other reviewers have said - if you see a great deal, you may be getting the older version of this heating tool with a different colorway/design. That is what I received, and I'm perfectly fine with it. Otherwise, it appears identical. It's designed to be used for paper crafting - scrapbooking, card making, etc, and the heat is more intense then hair dryers. The plastic shield helps prevent you from directly touching the metal tip, reducing your chance of burning yourself, but you must still be careful - it gets hot! I recommend getting a smooth silicone mat to protect your work surface when using the gun. Most people pick up their paper while embossing to prevent heat being applied to their desk. There are also craft tongs with silicone tips that keep your hand away while you're using the heat tool. Read more

I selected this heat gun because of the beautiful gold detail. It looked prettier than most heat guns. However, Like some of the others, I did not receive the same heat gun as pictured. It is white and has WE R logo in blue. Im not sure how it works.
