We (ahem, my husband) misplaced the one we had exactly like this and I was able to order another to be delivered the next day. While I looked at that other types of thermometers available, I chose this one again because I knew it worked well and would continue working for years, as we’d had our first one for many years. The battery life is fantastic as we hadn’t needed to change it in the original, yet, despite regular use. I also like the size as it fits perfectly in our knife block, the location we’ve stored it for years as it’s right by the stove. We use it several times a week as I don’t fully trust eyeballing when meat is fully cooked. After one has food poisoning a few times, you want to avoid a repeat at all costs! This handy thermometer is a cheap little confirmation of doneness. Of course, a couple of weeks after we received the new one, my husband found the old one in a drawer he swore he searched twice. I think we have five different types and brands of stick thermometers in our kitchen. Every one of them I've wanted to throw in the trash after standing in front of an open oven door getting melted, watching the oven temp drop, and waiting to for a final reading. Since I had nothing better and didn't want to spend a lot on a replacement, I kept going through the same effort and the same frustration. While browsing Amazon I read the reviews on this one and crossed my fingers that I wouldn't be adding a sixth to eventually end up in the trash. OMG! This is actually and truly a quick-read thermometer! In just seconds I can get an instant result. AND the large display is easy to read. Also, no more fumbling with skinny thermometers and itty bitty buttons since the large square display makes it very easy to handle and hold on to. I love this instant read thermometer and highly recommend it. This is one of those products that I use all the time for cooking and grilling meat, and to check the temp of my water for proofing yeast. I had my first one for over 5 years and loved it so much, but one of my kids stole it out of the drawer and either jumped on it or smashed it, so the screen wasn't working well and my husband tossed it. I just recently bought another one and I still love it! It is small, easy to use and always accurate. I bought my husband the meater, and this works sooooooo much better for a fraction of the cost, granted you can't leave it in the meat while it is cooking, but that doesn't make much of a difference to me. This one does take a few seconds to get to the actual temperature reading, where the first one I had was instantaneous, but having to wait a few seconds does not bother me at app and I know the temp reading is going to be accurate. I'm moving this up to 5 stars because Weber has done a great job of replacing the first unit. This is a great meat thermometer and reads instantly! You need to check out your unit when it arrives vs waiting until after the return period passes before testing it. I don't know what they did on the first one I got, but I previously had one of these that worked great for many years. This first new one just sporadically turned on. I even changed the battery. I've used this dozens of times and it is very accurate. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is that it does not give you an "instant" reading... it takes more than a few seconds to get up to the temp reading. Big deal? Yes when you want a reading in a hot oven or BBQ or kimado grill. Sometimes I have to remove the food from the oven/grill to get a reading which is no big deal, but it would be nice if it gave you an instantaneous reading. Read more

The media could not be loaded. I use this thermometer every single time that I grill meat. I love how I can accurately pull chicken off the grill at the correct temperature so that every piece is perfect. Before I used to just guess and usually over cook the chicken out of fear of it being undercooked. I've visited friends who don't have a thermometer for their BBQ and rather than see them guess at the correct cooking times, I jump on Amazon and send one of these to the house either that same day or the next day. I use it at least a few times a week and so far the battery life seems to be excellent. I always find thermometers in general to be unpredictable and unreliable. I love this one for kitchen/grill use. It never disappoints. Be careful when cleaning. The screen on my old one got water damage so I did have to replace it. Read more
