I had an older version. The nonstick coating started to bubble after years of use. This version is bigger and it looks to be of better quality, especially the coating. I really like this because I can adjust the temperature. The only complaint is I wish it had a power light. But that is a minor thing as you can tell it is getting hot. I have a mechanical switched timer that I use to control the time it cooks. BUYER BEWARE! I was given a West Bend crockpot similar to this one 25 years ago. Absolutely loved it! In fact, it still works, we just wanted an upgrade. So we looked to the same brand and similar product to give us hopefully the same performance. The first time we used it to cook a chicken dish, it worked great and tasted good. When washing we noticed a tiny chip in the coating inside the pan. Keep in mind, we only use soft silicone utensils. Second use, even more chips. We used it one more time and it was apparent that the coating was peeling off even more. My husband told me to stop using it due to the possibility of us consuming the coating while eating the food. We thought that we could get an easy replacement but to no avail. We first tried finding a phone number for West Bend and couldn’t. After more time digging we found a chatbox, which is the only way to discuss warranty replacement, to a company called Legacy (who bought Westbend in 2017, who knew?). Legacy’s warranty department said that they would replace the unit as long as we paid $12 for shipping. To replace a product that is defective due to a manufacturer’s issue and to be charged for shipping is not typical, but thought I would try it. The representative that we were chatting with was supposed to call after 5 pm (WTF?) to secure a credit card for the shipping charge and has not called yet! As of right now we have reached back out through the chatbox with no response. Although I’m not sure I even want a new pot as it will probably do the same. I encourage everyone to look at the reviews for this product. You will notice all the bad reviews (some happened to be after my purchase) with this crock pot. The appliance design is sleek and I love that it has a built in griddle. It doesn’t have clear temps, just a dial that varies between warm, low, and high. I Broke this slow Cooker in with oxtails. I put them in overnight on the temp between warm and low. It works well. I was able to fit almost 4lbs of oxtails, about 6-8 cups of liquid in it comfortably. I was also able to sear the meat in the slow cooker pan on high, due to the griddle giving enough heat and heating up fast. So far, the only negative besides the temperature functionality is that The cooker makes an annoying clicking sound every 1-2 minutes CONSTANTLY. I think it is the heating element clicking on and off to maintain the temperature. Read more
