I cannot attest to it's speed since my computer is 6 years old and a little long in the tooth, but it works fine and is much larger than the original. I had so much room that I partitioned it into three, two large main ones and a small drive that I set up with the OS. I can boot on the small partition and perform drive maintenance on the other partitions and vice versa. Very convenient. Although not the best solution, I use one partition to back up the main partition figuring it would help if a file was accidentally deleted or the OS becomes corrupt. I am using this hardrive for a smoothwall installation. I needed a low power, quiet hardrive, and this fit the bill. Its large enough to hold quite a big squid cache as well. I cannot comment on speeds, as it rarely gets pushed. The rest of the system is an atom d2700 and 2gb of ram. Works great. I hope it lasts a long time. Read more

I recently acquired a Dell 11z netbook free. The power cord was broken. I managed to piece it together and stick some solder in a couple spots and got it to work again. Plugging it in and seeing the lights come on and the fan come on got me excited. It booted to the beginning of the windows 7 logo screen and froze up. I played with it for a few hours and got no where. So I tore it apart and removed the HDD. I stuck that in my desktop HDD dock and did some testing with Linux. The test was supposed to only run for about 10 minutes. I stopped it 45 minutes later and it was only about 75% done. It was already showing 64,000+ bad sectors on the drive itself. In comes Amazon and this particular HDD. This is the exact model that came in the netbook stock, so I went back with that rather than upgrade it. The drive itself installs in seconds. It has a decent read/write time. I went with the 2-day shipping. By the way, everyone should pay attention to shipping and costs incurred. I ordered on a Tuesday evening and received it on Thursday morning. But in looking at the available shipping when I checked out, it would have costed 8 or 9 dollars more for "1-day shipping", and it was listed as arriving the same day as the 2-day option. Overall product is good, shipping was good, packaging was excellent. Would recommend to anyone to purchase from Amazon, but watch the shipping costs. Read more

This is one of those things where it either works and its great or it doesn't and its terrible. This harddrive was compatible with my Dell and got us back up and running. Too early to say if it was a good value because only time will tell. Read more
