I recently had to replace this through no fault of it's own(broken tab) and I miss it. Downgrading to 7200 RPM's from the 10000 RPM's this has, because finding a 1TB hard drive with 10000 RPM's is not the easiest find, is the big difference between this hard drive and others. I did not think it would make a big difference but it does. Read more

Bought this for my gaming rig I built as a 'slave' drive and it works great fast and plenty of space, I have an SSD for my boot drive and primary programs and this has everything else, music, pictures, videos, some games, etc. Nowhere near filled up yet and haven't had any problems. Another great product from western digital. I've never had one of their hard-drives die on me before 7 years or so, I expect the same from this one. Read more

This Western Digital VelociRaptor WD5000HHTZ 500GB 10000RPM 64MB SATA 6.0Gb is one fast hard drive. It took Windows 7 20min. to load onto the drive. Its screaming fast!!! Only one problem as of writeing this review is that should have bought two drives. Read more

Love 10K RPM Hardrive super fast but little noisy compared or against traditional 7200RPM Hardrive. Usually when you buy new HDD it comes 5 or 3 years manufacture warranty - this drive comes with no manufacture warranty after double checking with western digital. I kinda figured why because they are discontinued by Western Digital that’s what it says on the drive - manufacture date 2014. So I’m kinda taking a chance hopefully it won’t fail since no warranty through manufacture. The reason I bought this drive because I already own one of the original Velociraptor 10K and it’s been solid performer never failed on me - maybe I was lucky. Anyway I had an option to get SSD they are much faster but I have older motherboard that doesn’t support SATA-3 instead my motherboard got SATA-2 which would bottleneck SSD's true potential - even though SSD still be a bit faster even an older controller like I have. Anyway giving 4 out 5 stars because little noisy and no manufacture warranty. Read more

I've used this HD about 3 times since i bought it in December because i use my laptop for most things and i use my gaming computer for more graphic intense games. That being said it seems to be failing already. I'm not saying the seller is bad or the product is bad because i really haven't been able to use the product long enough to know. I'm going to assume that I've just got an unfortunate HD that failed. Really wish I didn't have to buy another one. When i did get to use it I thought it worked great and was fast. I was very pleased with it. I know sometimes you can get unlucky and get bad HD's and I think that's what happened to me. Read more

The Western Digital VelociRaptor 500GB is truly still one of the best. Don't get me wrong Its not a SSD but it still gets the job done and fast. I have used Raptors for many years for many of my builds. I would recommend this drive. Read more
