PS3 Works Again

Dug out an old Sony PS3 console for my kids to play. It had been "dead" and unusable for several years due to a failed hard drive. The orginal was 40gb so this 500gb drive was a bit of an upgrade. Attrocious performance

I don't know if this disk was used or just defective. It was intended to be a replacement drive for a cheap little dell optiplex PC. It typically isn't recommended to use a 5400RPM drive (or even any HDD instead of SSD) for a Windows / OS install, but this was positively atrocious. The performance I was experiencing with Windows 11 installed on this was not the result of a 5400RPM drive. It was all-around terrible disk performance. Other reviews seem to be varied. Looks like I pulled the short straw. Read more
