It arrived on time which was nice. I have only used it once. It was easy to use with the guide but the guide did mark up an expensive German knife but I was prepared for that as it had been mentioned in other reviews. I’m really happy with how this whetstone kit has worked. The double-sided option is very practical—the 1000 grit side does a great job of sharpening a dull edge, and the 6000 grit side finishes it off nicely. After a bit of practice, I was able to get my kiddo's Cub Scout whittling knife back to being sharp, and the base keeps everything steady so it doesn't slide around while you’re working. The only downside is that it didn't come with any instructions in the box. If you’ve never used a stone before, you definitely have to look up a tutorial online to figure out how long to soak it and what angle to hold the knife. It’s not hard once you see it done, but a simple setup guide would have been a big help for a beginner. This handy set has everything you need to keep your blades in great condition, and the nonslip bamboo holder is convenient and effective. There is a learning curve if you've never used a whetstone, but once you get good at it (via online videos and a little practice, in my case), you can keep your knives, scissors and hand pruners razor sharp. After a few weeks of using this product, it does sharpen the knives I have used on it. The technique I would recommend watching youtube videos to properly sharpen your knives. The angle part that goes on the knives as said in the instructions scratches up the blade towards the back side of the knife, so warning on using it because I am glad I used it on a cheap 30$ knife from amazon. For my pocket knives, it does sharpen them enough to be useable, and I think it needs to have a higher grit number to get them razor sharp. Overall it is a good start to get practice into sharpening knives, but as for a day to day user like me for now, is very good to get the proper technique practice on but I do not recommend using expensive or nice knives on it as getting a new edge, bevel, and sharpness is a process and not worth trying it on expensive knives. If you are looking to making your knives razor sharp, some youtube videos will say to get diamond sharpening stones but they are pricier in comparison to this item. I do wish they included higher grit stones with it up to 8k, 10k or 12k grit just to see how sharp I can get the knives. Read more
