This one costs about a third of the price and feels just as solid in terms of build quality. I have a 20mm arm in my Bronco, so I used a 20mm-to-17mm ball adapter, and it fit perfectly with the back of this charger. I really like the design compared to other similar products I've used. Clever clamp design with the clamp tightener as a screw mechanism rather than a spring clip, is more stable and should last longer. I did have an issue with the first one one of these I ordered. The clamping mechanism seemed to be getting stuck when opening and closing. I contacted the seller and It was deemed a defective unit. This is my second time purchasing this product. My original one lasted about two years before one of the arms broke, snd wouldn’t move, so I recently replaced it with the newer model. Overall, it still works well, but I actually prefer the vent-mount clip from the older version - it was sturdier and held my iPhone more securely. (the new versions tightened at the max, my iPhone still quickly falls forward on my Kia Telluride air vent. I ended up swapping the old mounting clip onto the new one, and now it works perfectly. Charging Speed is a LIE: It charges so slowly that if you dare to run Waze or Google Maps (the reason you need a car charger!), your phone's battery percentage will either stagnate or actually drop. I have tried multiple QC 3.0 adapters as suggested—it makes no difference. It consistently fails to deliver enough power to keep up with basic GPS use. It is functionally worse than a 5W standard charger. Overheating Hazard: The absolute worst offense is the extreme heat generation. After 30 minutes of attempting to charge with my navigation running, my phone was torching hot. The charger itself was scorching to the touch. This kind of heat is dangerous for the phone's long-term battery health and is a potential safety hazard in the car. Terrible Mount Stability: The vent mount is cheap and ineffective.
