This comes from the barrel cut, which is widest at the knee, then tapers at the bottom. The no-roll 2.25-inch elastic waistband is comfortable and doesn't slip, but still has a thick tie for added security. The two side-slit pockets are self-lined, sturdy enough for keys or a small wallet, but I wouldn't put my extra-large phone in them. I've washed the pants using a cold-delicate cycle with no color fading or shrinkage (that I could tell). For drying, I've used two methods: the dryer on the low setting, or hanging them to dry. I didn’t check the size carefully before purchasing — I actually only needed a size S, but I chose M. Fortunately, the waistband is elastic, so it still fits, though the pant legs are a bit looser.
