I have two dogs that are not quite comfortable with car rides. I have a cargo van with only 2 bucket seats in front. While one dog can ride in back, two dogs would result in a doggy playground and tangled restraint devices (doggy seatbelts). So one dog sits up front. While this is not specifically designed for the front seat, it does work well as long as you have a spot to attach the front straps to something. I have a spaces thru the top liner that I can run the straps thru. I use the straps that were provided for the side attachment. I have used another strap I had lying about for the side, that I attach to the handle above the passenger side door. But it is very solid even without the strap to the handle above the door. My dogs are MUCH happier riding inside this device. They have something to lean on, or rest on, on for my smaller dog, curl up in. One of the best features of this car seat is the solid seat extender on the bottom. My poor dogs were never completely stable before, but now they can sit comfortably without having to keep the paws tucked up so tight. When they can let their feet spread out, they have better balance, which makes them more comfortable, and less apprehensive about riding inside the car. The other great thing that sets this car seat apart from its competitors is that ALL 4 SIDES have metal top bars. I had a version before that didn't have the metal top bars and not only was it less stable in the van, the dogs didn't trust it. It is very easy to load and unload the dogs. Unhook the Velcro on the door side, unzip the two zippers, and the dog can hop out (or back in when loading. The top bar stays in the car seat. It takes a minute or so once you're familiar with it. I still hook my dogs harness's to a separate restraint system that is attached to the seat using the rails of the seat. Which leads me to the 3rd thing I like about this car seat, I can still use the separate restraining system (dog seatbelt) along with this unit. This doesn't go so high on the back of the seat that I can't use my tried and true leash system (some do). I'm very happy with this dog car seat. The only con I can come up with is that I wish the carrying pouch could close securely so I didn't need to worry about losing straps or poles when I pack it up. But, another good point is that the entire car seat WILLL pack up in the carrying bag with no struggle (anyone who's tried to get a big tent back into a stuff sack knows what I mean here 😂). This extra large dog car seat is good for long road trips or if your dog is sharing a backseat with someone. It is similar to a hard bottomed seat cover and clips onto both the front and back headrests for support. It takes up roughly one and a half seats in a cross over SUV. The zippers are a little sticky although they work well once they are properly alligned. My 50 lb mutt fits comfortably in the seat, and can lie down curled up into a donut. It doesn't offer much in the way of protection, although I do choose to retrain my dog with a chest harness and over headrest seatbelt. Once it is installed its very easy to get the dog in and out although set up, especiallly the first time can take quite a while. I generally have used this for longer drives, when I know my dog will be with me, while just using a simple seat cover for when I need to switch between open back seats and dog backseats because of the hassle. Very very good quality. In fact the best I have ever seen in a backseat cover for a dog. However, I got theXL large size, and my 90lb Labrador didn't even come close to fighting in it. Used it in a other car for our 2 small dogs, but didn't fit my lab which is what the intention was. Again, quality is hands down the best. Just beware of the size. Read more

I have a full sized one of these in my backseat and I love it. My husband doesn't like his backseat taken up with these covers so he is always taking my car when he has to transport the dog anywhere. However, sometimes I am at work and my car is not available. When I saw that they make a half sized one, I decided to get this for HIS vehicle. Unlike traditional seat covers that take up the entire backseat, this car seat cover only takes up half your backseat, allowing a person to sit comfortably in the backseat (or babyseat) beside your contained dog. The cover seems durable and is easy to attach to your front and rear headrests. The fact that it has a hard bottom that extends over the open leg area of your backseat is an added plus, allowing your pet to have extra room to stretch out and relax without the fear of falling off the seat during hard braking. It also keeps your dog safely in the backseat to avoid distractions while you are driving. This is not to say that if you have a super hyper dog, that it won't try to jump over the sides. My dog tries to jump out of the side when he first gets in and I do have to be a bit firm in telling him to STAY and then he settles down inside it. My dog is a beagle X and has plenty of room to relax during drives. You can also add a doggy seatbelt to keep your pet further contained if you are afraid they will hop over and out when you open the back door. There are support poles on the side panels to keep them firm and upright (not saggy like low end pet covers). Its like your dog is sitting in a big box except that it has mesh sides which allow for air flow during hot days. When not in use, this cover easily folds up for storage in the rear hatch and even has it's own sleeve to slide it into during storage. Its a little expensive but to me, worth the peace of mind keeping your pet safely contained while you are driving. Read more

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️☆ (4.4/5) Solid option for traveling with medium to large dogs. The waterproof hard bottom adds great stability, and the half‑seat hammock design is perfect if you still need passenger space. Easy to install, protects seats well from hair and messes, and the built‑in bed mat adds comfort for longer rides. Looks practical and well thought out for SUVs, trucks, and cars. Read more
