These shorts are beyond the truth!

I have been doing yoga off and on over the past few years, but I have been practicing very regularly for about 6 months now. Up until now I have been practicing mainly in compression pants / tights with whatever shorts over top. Because the compression pants are underneath, no shorts ever really bunch-up or restrict significantly. However, as the weather has gotten warmer, I have noticed that most mesh shorts and the likes do not translate well to yoga practices that are in the flow / hot / power vein. It really interrupts an attempt at moving meditation to have to constantly readjust, pull, stack, and unbunch your shorts. I spent a pretty penny on my own empirical research and kept coming up disappointed. Boardshorts were better, but they still aren’t perfect – and I was beginning to think that perfect didn’t exist. I knew there were mens shorts out there specifically for yoga, but I was VERY apprehensive about there being a liner – I have hated those since I was a kid in the 80s and that was standard bathing suit architecture. These shorts sat on my wishlist for weeks while I grumbled about the liner and the price. After a few more frustrating hot yoga sessions, I decided to pull the trigger (Prime shipping and free returns, after all). OMFG! THE LINER IS MESH AND TRUNKS (boxer-brief-y) STYLE NOT TIGHTY-WHITEY STYLE!!! I wore these shorts came in on a Thursday and I wore them to donation yoga class on Friday (all levels). I noticed right away how fluid they allowed me to be and followed me through ever deep lunge, twist, and bend without me even paying them any attention. The next morning, I wore them to hot yoga class, and it was an intense one. I was able to fully and actively engage in deep lunges and moving meditations with zero adjustments – I was in the zone and these shorts were actually facilitating me (as opposed to the hinderance I was used to). At the end of class, I had to wring out my shirt. The shorts were damp, but I did not feel uncomfortable or anywhere near ‘wet’. The shorts were mostly dry (especially inside) by the time I was done walking a few blocks. I am currently securing my second pair. Read more

These yoga shorts are definitely worth it!

CustomerApril 21, 2019✓ Verified purchase

These yoga shorts are a bit pricey, but definitely worth it. The quality is self evident (I also bought other yoga shorts for about $30 and no comparison - returned those.) I wear them for hot yoga 3-4 classes per week. What I like about these shorts: > Comfort - the shorts aren't tight fitting (i.e., not body / crotch hugging like Speedos) though they are in no sense baggy or loose fit (I would say the description of Slim Fit is a fair assessment). > I also like the built in liner - saves on having to wear an additional undergarment. > Quality - the material is substantial compared to the other shorts I bought. I think they will hold up better over time. > As advertised, the shorts don't collapse in inverted poses - no showing off. Plus the inseams aren't too long (and since I am not tall, that's a good thing). > Pockets. During class, I have a place to put used tissues. > Customer service - more on that below as part of fit discussion. > Fit and customer service: I was torn between buying size Large vs. XL. Based on info on the website when I made my purchase, I bought size XL (I am 5'5", 160 lbs., have a little midsection paunch). The site said to measure around belly button and also described the shorts as slim fit (which I would say is true). The basketball shorts I had been wearing to yoga are size XL, so that was another factor in going that way initially. I wore the Yoga Crow XL's a couple of times and they were OK, but decided to order size Large to compare (the XL's were a bit long in the crotch and I had to cinch them with the draw string pretty significantly; and by the end of class, the extra material, when very wet, was a bit heavy). The size Large was definitely better for me. As a result, my recommendation is to select the waist size that you normally wear for pants / shorts; measure around where you normally wear your pants (for me, that's the crease of my waist). I normally wear size 35-36 pants (which sit just below the paunch) and the size Large are exactly that. Plus the material has some give. For customer service, Yoga Crow accepted the return of 2 pairs of worn shorts. I now happily own 4 pairs of size Large. I don't usually spend $64 on any shorts, much less yoga shorts. But these are definitely worth it and I expect to wear them for a long time. Read more
