I bought a copy of this DVD set because it was being used in a college course on Indian and Tibetan Healing Traditions. This set was so informative about Yoga and presented in an interesting way. It was very rich in historical details. The musical score and photography were beautiful. Many main important figures in the development of Yoga were discussed, shown, and/or interviewed. A lot of visual aids are presented such as charts and diagrams. There is a lot of detail about how Western cultures have adopted this ancient Eastern practice and how it is used today in the West in fitness programs as well as by hospitals. There are so many facets and aspects, points of view presented, and these are very inspiring and educational. This high quality program is good for students of medicine, history, philosophy, and people interested in alternative health practices, spirituality, and self-improvement, or growth. Read more

The package was handwritten and mailed from the creator of the DVD so I wanted to be sure and leave a positive note for Ms Gita. We met her in person many years ago when the DVD was first released during a film showing. We've used this DVD for many years during our Yoga Teacher Training programs, as a great reference point to the incredible history of yoga. This DVD is an amazing film (about 3 hours of footage) with interviews of many great yoga teachers and historians, and gives a great overview of many of the broad reaches of yoga's true origins, journey, modern yoga, and the mysticism "unveiled". It's a great film, great product, and arrived very quickly--the envelope was hand addressed by Ms Gita Desai herself, it seems. Such care in all that she does. Thank you! Read more

Kind of okay but definitely not worth the price, also poor picture quality. Topics covered and the speakers are good but Movie makers were not able to demonstrate the actual energy of Yoga and keep viewers excited. Read more

I am studying to be a yoga teacher. The history and current types of yoga has alluded me up until now. This is a well done film, both the section on history and the section on yoga as therapy. I know I will watch it again and again. Read more

The DVD was part of my teacher training. I loved it so much that I bought my own copy afterwards. I keep returning to it over and over again because it holds so much information about the history of Yoga and the practice and its different parts alltogether. This goes way beyond what the common western approach to Yoga is! It is a great source of more thorough information and a great gateway into even further studies! Read more
